"Brought my car in today in a cloud of anxiety. It was acting funny and the check engine light was on with a message that said "service transmission now." Like everybody on the planet, I rely on my car get me to work and everywhere else. And I know transmissions are not cheap. After calling some auto shops around town, I was starting to get disheartened because people were telling me it would be a 4-week wait before they could even look at it, or that they didn't do transmissions at all. Cedar Rapids Transmissions told me they could look at it in one week. That day is today. I dropped the car off in the morning, and then I got the call that there was a small part that had failed called the transmission control module. He said it would take at least three weeks to even get the part in. I started to panic a little bit, wondering how I could possibly bum rides from my friends and family for another 3 weeks. But then he told me there is an open recall on that part that has been extended. So if you take it to the dealership, they will fix it for free. He didn't have to tell me that. I know that in a perfect world he did exactly what an honest professional should do. But the world is not perfect, and he could have easily made money on that repair instead of telling me how to get it fixed for free. I'm very appreciative."
