Reviews of Cordell & Cordell - Divorce Attorney Office
"I lost my hearing then paid my final bill ($12K). 2 weeks after my hearing I received an email stating that I lost and why (which was already explained by the judge at the hearing) and that if I wanted to appeal id need to give them a $10K retainer. THEN THEY CHARGED ME $157 FOR THAT EMAIL. I complained about it and told them I wasn't going to pay it. So they just charged my credit card that I had on file with them. Their billing and accounting methods have something to be desired."
"If I could give zero stars I would, I am posting this review on behalf of my boyfriend because he doesn’t use social media but desperately wants people to know what they are getting for their money with this law firm. NOTHING! Samantha Miller is a terrible attorney who basically took $6500 from him to do absolutely nothing. Would not answer phone calls, did not return phone calls or emails in a timely manner. Gave no peace of mind or any advice to him, at a time when he needed support and guidance. Please go to a different law office if you would like to get anything that you are paying for. It’s just sad what she did to him."
"I wish I had read the reviews before hiring them. I’m fairly certain my attorney wouldn’t have been able to tell me either of my children’s names throughout my entire 9+ month court case.. but in order to ask her she would have had to answer my emails, which she didn’t. Frustratingly unprofessional, showed up to my deposition covered in cat hair and just looked wholly unprepared. There are a lot of very good fathers in Omaha that would be doing themselves and their children a disservice by hiring these attorneys."
"I initially reached out to this firm because they advertised as a father’s rights law office. After retaining a female attorney name Samantha for $2500 I thought I made a great decision, and it would lead me to a positive outcome in my custody case. After a year of fighting for my kids and attempting mediation and $10,000 later, I was financially forced into finding a different attorney because we were making no progress and the charges kept coming. They bill me to this day for over $5000 and they ad interest every time. Extremely greedy law firm that has anything but a fathers rights to his children in mind, but rather their bank account. I retained a new attorney who informed me that for the money I spent with Samantha at Cordell and Cordell, There should have been significant changes in regards to my custody and visitation with my kids and there was none. Samantha had information she chose not to inform me on, so I could attempt things on my own accord to help my case. I can only speak from my encounter with Samantha at that law office, but they charge for every phone call or every email or every piece of information that needs to be communicated to you. They also take advantage of the fact you’re ignorant to the law. If you are a man who has a great case in his favor for custody of his children, reach out to an attorney, who is a man, so he understands where you’re coming from and that’s my first piece of advice. ."
"Don't waste your money. The defendant in our case paid 5k total, I paid almost 30k with Cordell and Cordell. total time was about 8-9 months. It was a simple DNA/custody dispute. If the child ended up being mine, I was seeking 50/50 custody, no child support. Met with Jared the senior lawyer on the case, he assigned me a junior lawyer to handle the case. After a few weeks of dealing with Samantha, it was clear that she had no interest in representing my interests. She spent more time defending the defense than she did working on my case and crafting my docs. I often times had to proofread her work and let her know that we were the plaintiff, not the defendant. I let Jared know that I was not happy with this junior lawyer, no response. We went to trial for the temp custody hearing, in our temp hearing the defendant was awarded full custody with full child support for an undetermined amount of time. I got 1 day a week visitation and every other weekend with severe restrictions. At this point, because she got everything she asked for, the defendant refused to mediate or settle... after about 6 months of paying my lawyer, full child support, and all fees... We went to trial, the judge was ready to rule in our favor and award us 50/50 custody, with all legal fees paid by the defendant, Samantha encouraged me to settle the case before we went through the whole trial process. I agreed with the understanding that the defendant was to pay all legal fees, but when the judge read the agreement back Samantha had waived that part of it for the defendant... How is that representing my best interests? My mistake was not stopping it at trial. However, I thought my lawyer was working for me. In hindsight, she was not. I am sure that my lawyer was either scared of the defense, auditioning for a job at the defendant's law firm, or just had no interest in the case and it showed. Oh and don't bother calling customer support. They just call your lawyer and tell your lawyer to justify their fees. Even when it's a double bill, or 8 hours of time when the trial/prep was 1.5 hours."
