"No matter your current level, if you are at all interested in improving your surfing or surf skating, attend one of the upcoming SmoothStar’s training events. My son Charlie and I did the beginner training in Encinitas today (June 2023) and the vibes, equipment, quality of instruction, and friendliness of everyone involved was just outstanding. I got my SmoothStar at the end of December last year and since it was soon after I had knee surgery, up until today I had only spent a few hours trying to figure out how to ride it properly. In just an hour at today’s training, I learned so much and established a great foundation for continuing my surfing and surf skating journey. I’m unbelievably stoked and I can’t recommend SmoothStar and these events highly enough!"

"For $10 you get some legitimate feedback and insight into issues with your surf technique. The class focused on improving surf ability, which is what I wanted. Knowledgeable instructors watched participants and offered feedback immediately. Way better than watching you tube videos, filming yourself practicing, and then comparing your technique with the you tube poster. I look forward to SmoothStar setting up future clinics. One thing to improve on: Offer a board demo and sizing opportunity after the class. The class was not setup to sell boards; however, I think having a separate station to demo a couple of boards would help folks looking to buy a surf-skate feel confident in their purchase."

"I took beginner and intermediate classes from Smoothstar in Carlsbad and it really improved my surfskating and understanding of the physics of the process. The instructors did a great job. They are able to help everyone individually and point to the areas you need to focus on to get better, regardless if you are a beginner or advanced. I recommend it for everyone who wants to improve their surfing and be able to practice while being far from the ocean."

"I was very lucky to attend 2 surf training sessions this past Friday with the SmoothStar crew in Austin Tx. They were fantastic trainers and even provided us a chance to use their surf trainer boards. I went from not knowing how to pump to actually progressing to intermediate in 1 hour. I really can't say enough thanks for the training you guys. I intend on buying a Manta Ray surf trainer as soon as I can This is my son who's never ridden a skateboard much less a surf skate.
