Reviews of Cascade Falls
"Challenging and so worthwhile. Steep and narrow sections but incredible views of the lakes plus cascading waterfalls at the top. Dog friendly. About 2 miles in and out. Bring water!"
"I was under the impression that it wouldn't be active in the summer, but it was in full force in Sept 1st week. The hike till the top of the falls is not easy or mostly flat like the internet suggests. It becomes rocky and risky after 10 mins of walk. Definitely takes over 30 mins one way. I would call it a moderate hike. We even filled our water bottles up there. The water is clear and pristine. I would not recommend it if you have toddlers to carry. Once up there, the views of Cascade Lake are pretty rewarding."
"Cascade Falls is a beautiful waterfall on the west shore of Lake Tahoe. It is easily accessible and is only about a .75 mile hike from the main road to the falls. The views of Lake Tahoe and Cascade Lake along the way to the falls are fantastic, and in mid summer at peak snowmelt the falls were roaring."
"This is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. My wife and I could have stayed up there all day. Every turn is a picture needing to be taken. The trail is not easy and it can be dangerous so it is not a place for people of any kind of mobility issues or small children. You are literally walking on rocks on the side of a steep cliff and sure-footedness is mandatory. It's not something to he scared of but rather aware of if you are thinking about this hike. Wear good shoes or hiking boots and take plenty of water....although you can drink the water right out of the falls if you want...My wife and I did. Parking is a pain, you need to find a spot on the road and then hike to the trailhead but it is well worth it. This area is very busy so get there early or be patient. I strongly recommend this trail for anyone capable of the trek. You won't be disappointed."
"One the best hikes in south lake Tahoe. It's easy-moderate and relatively short compared to most mountain hikes. Trail takes you along the side of a mountain and ends right where the falls start. From there, you can follow the stream above the falls to many areas perfect for sunbathing, relaxing, eating, etc all while listening to the rush of the water. It seems sparse, but as you wander around there are areas that are shaded to sit under. If you manage to cross, there's lots more to explore. Used to be able to park at the campground, but it's closed to vehicle traffic (future parking lot). Park on the street or at the viewpoint across the road."
