"The one stars is for the view. That's about where the good things end. I don't usually like to leave bad reviews, honestly, but I feel I have to warn people of the lack of cleanliness at this property. We stayed here during summer, so off-season, for a wedding. I have a laundry list of reasons why this property was so far below my expectations. There was hair in the sheets and on the pillows, behind the bedside table was filthy like it'd never been cleaned, the charging block thing didn't work at all, the thermostat didn't work, and instead there was a FAN and some space heaters, the bathroom was so small you couldn't close the door without straddling the toilet, the shower was run-down and I honestly couldn't tell if it was clean or not, there were dirty forks in the drawers where dishes were, which was SO disgusting, the ground coffee was expired (it expired in APRIL, it is AUGUST). For $400 honestly I expected WAYYYYY more. Especially because it's off-season, so there are barely any amenities open. Sooooo overpriced for what you get. I can understand how a stay like this might be OK if you're skiing, but in the summer it's not good. We only stayed here because there was a wedding we had to go to, but the experience was definitely subpar. The price for the accommodations were WAY too high for what we got, especially when it wasn't even clean. I hope I don't get bed bugs from the dirty sheets."
"Very dark and outdated place. Room was fine but not worth the price. Wish we would’ve known there was only one restaurant open (a bar) as far as food goes. Staff was nice but reaching the front desk was like playing the lottery. Another thing is that we originally booked a room at the Sun Meadows but when we checked in they told us our room was in The Meadows and “we can place you in either building if you book online”. This was not mentioned anywhere when booking."
"We booked our room through Vail resorts. What we loved: The view (the mountain and Chairs 5 Solitude & 6 Cornice), the short walk to the lifts, The Cornice Grill (with awesome bar tenders and service) just below us, and of course the skiing at Kirkwood!! We appreciated the complimentary coffee and the room was stocked with a coffee maker, microwave, refrigerator and some plates, utensils and glasses. The building and room is a bit old (was probably very nice when it was originally built!) and could use some updating. Also no elevator so we got our steps in unloading our car - 5 stories from garage. What was a bummer was there is underground parking but we had to park outside — even though a blizzard was in progress. Our car was one of the only ones in the parking lot so it seems the Front Desk made exceptions for some but not others? Or guests just decided they weren't going to let their cars get buried and parked inside? I'm surprised Vail Resorts can't help Kirkwood make "exceptions" to their guest parking when 1) there is a blizzard with 5 feet of snow coming and 2) there are empty spaces in the garage because 88 is closed and no traffic coming in or out. The other decision Kirkwood Resort Lodging needs help with is "late check out". So due to the blizzard, 88 was closed with no traffic coming in or out, the Mountain was on hold with no ETO yet the Front Desk couldn't let us have a late checkout. I've actually never stayed at a hotel/resort where they wouldn't provide late checkout. I almost gave a 2 star due to the rigidity of Kirkwood Resort Lodging decision making but decided it was likely a training issue and management might look into this for future blizzard conditions. Glad we stayed and recommend all because of the skiing at Kirkwood."
"The rooms are a little small and basic, but that shouldn't matter because you'll be skiing all day! The common areas are really nice and cozy, and look like your classic ski cabin. It is less than a 10 minute walk to the ski lifts, which is amazing"
"I had booked 5 nights at the Kirkwood Mountain Resort, but was instead placed in The Meadows, a dated condo complex. The rooms are individually owned, so your experience may vary. Our room was functional, but cramped (3 people aren't able to comfortable use the dining area), and could have used some TLC. The location was fairly convenient, though: Right between Kirkwood Village and Timber Creek."
