Reviews of SNUBA Tours of Kauai
"We had a great time with Doug and his crew. He is very thorough on safety and they took great care of our family and our 9 year old. Had a great time and would absolutely do this again!"
"They were all Very nice BUT after having a wonderful experience a few years earlier in Maui, this was an enormous disappointment! We had a small group and instead of going longer, we finished a 1/2 hour early not to mention the fact that you go off the beach (not a boat like other places!!) so the tide’s current kept us from going out to far, thus only allowing a very shallow dive. Honestly, I’d say skip this company, save your $$ and try it elsewhere (further out,off a boat!!). You can get the same experience they offer for free with a pair of googles & a snorkel or by holding your breath. Sorry, but nice with the right equipment doesn’t make it an experience worth the money"
"This was a great excursion. The guides were knowledgeable, friendly, and made the experience very smooth and safe. It was interesting, a cross between snorkeling and scuba diving (which I've always wanted to do), without needing to worry about as much equipment and always having the raft to retreat to if needed. I could see doing it again in a little deeper water with some ruins or a shipwreck or something to explore! Thanks for the experience!"
"I'm a 32yo reasonably fit guy and 'ok' swimmer. I had never snorkeled or scuba'd before, and i had a blast doing this snuba! I went in blind with pretty much no expectations and i left satisfied. I wish i had convinced my friends to come, but it was fine and fun for an individual joining the group lesson too! Experience: Long helpful safety and what to expect talk on shore. The November water was plenty warm so i just had a swim suit. Once in the water we quickly did breathing drills and set off. Granted i had never been snorkeling, it was amazing seeing all of the fish and sea creatures. The air tank is floating on a raft and it was great to stay down longer, and also have something to hang onto on the surface if I got tired or panicked during my breathing (which happened a few times) With all the currents and the underwater breathing it was a really unique experience - i felt like a fish in a fish tank. One downside is I got some slight vertigo and nausea by the end. Booking: I booked online last minute (1030am-12pm class) at 4pm the day before. I recommend booking further in advance as there were only a couple spots left. I was solo so i fit in with the other groups. Day of logistics: The class started and ended on time. I found street parking nearby and left my bag and shoes in their van. I felt bad afterwards that i left without leaving a tip -- they really were great hosts. I did some searches later and saw that tipping is customary for this, so now i know for next time."
"I found SNUBA to be a great way to spend time underwater without all the training and awkward tank handling for SCUBA. This was my first time doing SNUBA and Doug and the other staff were very helpful getting this out-of-shape middle-aged woman solo traveler (me) in and out of the water, and getting geared up. The guides were great about pointing out animals to us and attentive to any issues that arose. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and want to do it again! Definitely recommend!"
