Reviews of Paniolo Heritage Center
"Great place to learn the history of the Paniolo. Enjoyed all the original saddles, pictures, and other artifacts. Friendly knowable staff."
"It's worth the effort to visit this historic look at the "evolving story" of Hawaiian society. You will be impressed by how the infusion of cattle and horsemanship was quickly incorporated. The "Paniolo" (Hawaiian cowboys) and the Hawaiian Royalty (supported by the leadership of riding women parading while dressed local Hawaiian style) impacted society and enhanced their lives. Please check for special events and visit. Their Heritage Shop supports efforts to educate and maintain history and facilities."
"One of the highlights of my Hawaiian cruise was the Saturday visit to the Farmers Market at Pukalani Stables in Kamuela. Blue Corner Coffee, local and fresh roasted! Price is right & supporting locals! Raw honey from Big Island Moonbow Farms, Mamaki tea from Wynnwood Farms, bakers, home made soaps, handmade cards, excellant falafel for lunch. We could have spent more time at this market. If I lived there, I'd be there every week! The fresh produce looked amazing! Definately on my Return To list."
"One of the nicest open air markets on the island. Open on Wednesday and Saturday mornings.. Wednesday is mostly for excellent vegetables, fruit, island coffee, farm eggs..etc Saturday has more diversity and excellent food stands. The site is historical as the stables of Parker Ranch and the museum built in the stables is worth a visit. Lunch in the market and a visit to the ranching museum?"
"Two great farmers markets: Wednesday and Saturday. Beautiful stop as you drive through Waimea town. Little museum, old Hawaiian cowboy heritage, clean restrooms and picnic tables."
