"This farm has been an overall pleasant experience for us. Our hosts occasionally took us to town, even paid for some meals and picked us up at the airport. We had very good food, there are some nice hang out spots at the farm, Lahaina is a great town to hang out at especially at night (very touristy but still). Anyhow, there were some negative aspects we didn't quite enjoy about the farm. Work was mostly hard physical work, had to do lots of weeding (let us weed for 5 1/2 hours), some rock removing and dump runs where we loaded up the trailer with stems.. at least got some muscles out of it! Another point was how not everyone got treated equally. If you're an "extraordinary" worker you got to stay in a nice cabin. Others had to stay at the so called "wwoof shack" where it was really dirty, no sheets or pillows and remined us of slums. You have to walk up a hill at 5:30 every morning for about 15minutes to get to the rest of the farm. Our host liked to preach about us being a family but didn't care at all about our bad night sleep when we told him about our air matrass leaking (we therefore had to sleep on the floor).. but his excuse was that we should set up a tent like it was mentioned in the description. I personally don't think that that is a great deal though, having to do hard labour while having to sleep in a tent you have to get for yourself. Especially when there were still some cabins no one was staying in. Our host himself was a spiritual man but at the same time a big trump supporter which made me question his personality. He had lots of farm rules to keep a positive atmosphere which, per se, is a good thing. The workers were great in following the rules, they all were naturally kind but he liked to break his own rules which was very unfortunate (like previously mentioned he made fun of me). The tip of the iceberg was, that you can't have another opinion than our host. We had a meeting at one time where one of the group stood up for all and afterwards he called her into his office and made her leave the farm. After we heard what he had to say to us, 3 more people including me left the farm. He was making a statement that didn't meet my own values when he tried to explain that another work guy is worth more for the farm, we had to respect him and he didn't have to be that way with us and that we're not all equal. If you don't mind rustic accommodation, inequality or physical work and you have a thick skin you should go! Otherwise I wouldn't recommend."
"Met these amazing people on a trek in Nepal and am very much looking forward to spending time with them in Lahina. I can't imagine a better way to experience all that Hawaii has to offer."
"The most spiritual experience I’ve ever had. Wonderful positive people! The farm is beautiful with an amazing view, the sunsets are Magnificent! All the food grown on the farm is organic! The apple bananas are so GOOD! So many things to see and take part of, you’ll never want to leave! I can’t wait to go back!"
"This was my second experience at the farm. A spectacular view from a hilltop location. Off the beaten path. An Organic Farm and an up and coming world class Yoga facility. Check it out when you visit the island of Maui."
"Well today in NYC I had the pleasure of meeting Tim Moyer’s family from Maui, Hawaii proud owners of (Lahaina family farms) and they were wonderful, interesting and inspiring people! Looking forward to visiting their farm..."
