"Mostly a local kind of area. Snorkeling is not recommended here unless you're very experienced with the ocean. You can park here and visit this beach here only. They don't want you to park here and hike a small way to the other beach. So park just before here and then hike past this beach to the other one located at the end of the trail. Warning: the drive here is steep and has many curves so be careful and be prepared for dilapidated housing units, lots of abandoned property and small dogs and children running around :/"
"Beautiful sunset spot, nice white sand and shallow areas at low tide for kids to play! Tons of fish when snorkeling. Agree with the other comments re: the area and locals questioning you. (Some lady asked us if we were going to hike, we said no, and then asked where we were from stating that she keeps a record.) We had our car in sight at all times and it worked out. Port a potties were pretty bad. Overall, would probably come again when on this side of the island."
"Super cute little beach but I’m not sure it’s worth the drive down. The locals are NOT welcoming. .. offensive phrases graffitied everywhere and you literally have to drive through a messy neighbourhood to get there. It honestly did not feel safe. No Aloha here."
"Off the beaten path. The water was the warmest I was in the entire stay. Beautiful scenery and was fun to see! Kids were under a pavilion for school and it was fun to see them released to go play in the water or on the courts. Not much around the area but the fruit stand next to the beach had some goodies!"
"The last fishing village in Hawaii, luckily we got to meet some locals and enjoy their skill sets around their own waters. I learned so much about them in a short time experiencing this place. Down to earth and delightful people. Such a great place to swim, have events and just enjoy the coast without the tourist and crowds."
