Reviews of Koai'a Tree Sanctuary
"An amazing experience for us as a family! Not too hard, and yet an adventurous hike with our two small boys. There were beautiful views of all 3 volcanoes (two of them Snowcapped). The river wasn’t flowing at the time but we will definitely come back after a heavy rain to enjoy the flowing river."
"Fantastic spot for a small time hike. Amazing views but bring a stick. Webs cross the path so unless you want a new hair style, bring a stick."
"A nice trail for adults with good hiking shoes. The trail is really overgrown with lots of loose rocks. I kept reading reviews of short trails so I wanted to take my son. It wasn't great with him, but still beautiful, a little dry in November."
"Long overgrown trails and yet this is such a beautiful preserve with amazing old-growth trees. It’s a little tough to find the trail at some point but it’s such a small space it’s impossible to get lost. If you love plants and trees this is not to be missed. From the main gate if you hike the loop starting on the right east side and go up and around and come down the west side, it will definitely be easier than going the opposite direction. The map is on the back of the kiosk at the main gate in at the front. Take a picture of it and you’ll have it on your phone to reference as you go along."
"Great place to stop and enjoy magnificent views of the different shield volcanoes around the island. There is a short loop trail that goes around the park, with some spots looking like they’re straight out of The Hobbit! Lots of cool trees to look and at learn about"
