"Parking lot was very full, but we were able to squeeze in on the shoulder. The beach was full of kids playing and having a great time. We had lunch on the beach and took a dip in the ocean. The water was calm and pleasant and shallow. We tried to got out farther to get to deeper water. There were many large rocks under the surface. You couldn’t see them and the came almost to the surface of the water. We did not go away from the shore far enough to be able to actually swim."
"It is one of the best white sand beaches on this coast. Not as crowed as the other one that has a resort on the side of it. Nice pic-nik table area. No reservations are applicable. Washroom on site. Parking is a decent size, and you can wait for a spot if you go there in afternoons. On the very far north of the beach, you have a great area for snorkelling. The beach is very clean. They often do a cleanning party with volunteers."
"Great option on the Kohala coast. Multiple parking options, several bathrooms, lifeguard station (although not staffed the day we were there). Lots of picnic areas with tables to accommodate small to large groups, including several under the pavillion or tree shade. The water is not great for wading, as it can get rocky quickly. Snorkeling near shore is a bit murky, but gets quite good as you go further out or to the sides. Very short walk to the Heiau for an added bonus."
"We absolutely loved coming here on our recent trip to Hawaii. There was always tons of parking and there were a few bathrooms on site which was great. They had a ton of picnic benches and there was even a spot for camping. Folks brought their little kiddos and some were snorkeling. It's a very lovely beach!"
"Spencer Beach Park is the gem of the North Kohala Coast. Come here to watch whales from the heights of the National Monument above the beach. The Monument is Hawaiian for whale Hill. The beach is sandy and level. Water is cloudy for snorkelers. Restrooms are clean. Water fountains are many. Can get crowded on weekends so come early and bring food and a sand blanket. People are friendly and smiling. Spirit of Aloha."
