Reviews of Ke'anae Uka
"Nice spot to camp with plenty of space. Somewhat removed from area attractions. (About 20-30 minutes from Hana). I frankly expected to be further away from the road with a better view of the ocean but it's a short walk. Relatively expensive. I would recommend it, as long as you understand what you're getting for your money. Has bathrooms and hot showers."
"Paying USD$116 for a night is pricey, but we decided to stay at this campground mainly because of its convenient location. It's situated halfway along the Hana road, which is our only reason. The campsite shared a small grassy area and was located right next to the road, so there was some noise at night. The hot shower was available, but it was quite old and rough. No privacy in the shower room. There were no other facilities or views to enjoy. Overall, I don't believe it was worth the price, especially when compared to other campgrounds like Camp Olowalu, where we had a more enjoyable experience for a similar cost."
"We stayed in a shared cabin bunkhouse, and had the entire place to ourselves. $50/night per person. If you stay here, sheets are provided, but you need to bring a pillow, blanket if you need one (~70 degrees at night, so I didn't), towel, and dishes to eat off of (plastic or paper dishware). They provided an electric 2-burner cooktop, pots and cooking utensils as well, and there is a bathhouse with shower facilities. This is a former YMCA camp now operated by a local community nonprofit. Enjoy the beautiful views above the Ke'Anae Peninsula of the ocean and taro fields, and relax and enjoy this special place. Kind kamaaina operate the facility and keep it tidy."
"Let’s start with the price, about $116 per night which was the most expensive campground we stayed at on the island. Bathroom and showers were subpar at best, especially for the price to stay there. We were also woken up several times throughout the night to the sound of an ATV ripping up and down the road within the campground, which the owner was apparently completely OK with this even with guests on their property. The campground is in a pretty convenient location, about half way down the road to Hana. Looking back, we wish we did the road to Hana in one day, but if you want to take your time and do it in two days, this would be an ideal location to camp. The camping area itself was a nice flat grassy field with a view of the ocean. Overall, this campground got the job done, however the price for what the facility offers is outrageous."
"A former YMCA that is now under the management of local residents. The owner Junior is a very nice guy who will not only give you information about Ke'Anae, but also about the history and life of the locals. There are showers with hot water, toilets and a large camping area. The view from the patio is spectacular and there is even WiFi available!"
