"I love this spot to see turtles! It’s a very small trail and this is NOT a beginners or kid friendly snorkel spot. It’s a little tricky getting into the water, walk all the way to nearly the end of the trail, there’s 1 last little bush and you get into the water in the horse show shaped inlet when the water goes out. It’s about 4.5 feet deep and you can stand once you get in. You can sit on the rock, out your fins on and easily slide in. And when the wave comes up, you slide onto the rock to get out. It’s not graceful at all but safer than going down the sides of the cliff like others do. Anyway, the turtles are usually around the edges eating in the shallower water. If they’re not on the side you got in, make your way in a U shape towards the shore, not straight across if you’re a new snorkeled and get to the other side. They kind of hide behind the rocks on that far side. But we saw 5 this last trip in November, so chill and fun to watch. Get your daily snorkel report online from the snorkel store or snorkel bonds, they release it after 8am."
"This is an amazing snorkeling location, tons of fish and coral here. We spent about two hours here, saw a bunch to tangs, damsels, and coral. We will be back to Maui and we will be back to this location. The water is more or less calm and clear. There are a very few spots to get into this bay so that is the challenge in this area."
"A beautiful, rocky bay with swift surges and no easy access to the water. I saw three turtles from a distance as they floated at the surface. The highlight of my walk along an unimproved public access path was a viewing of a monk seal! It swam up along the bank and paused in a shallow finger of water among the rocks. Rugged and beautiful!"
"This is the best spot for spotting/swimming with the turtles and it’s free of charge of you have the snorkel gear. I’ve done the snorkel tours and they hold nothing to this location. Beautiful and plenty of fish to see and the turtles live in this area so they’re always here. Highly recommended with 2 thumbs up. You will have to deal with some parking issues but those have been minor the 3 times I’ve been here."
