Reviews of Papohaku Beach Park
"Beautiful white sandy beach! Clear blue water! Absolutely paradise!"
"Wow this beach is the lost beautiful I've seen white sands blue water waves aren't that big but do t underestimate the under tow be safe when you out there"
"Huge sandy beach with good restrooms and lots of parking. Also picnic areas under shade trees. Beach is good for sunbathing or walking but not for swimming or snorkeling. Waves are big and shoreline is big long rocks - looks beautiful when the waves hit them. Lots of room to spread out - on windy days the sand will pelt you. Bring shoes, lots of prickly thorns until you get to the sand."
"Huge sand beach with plenty of room. We were the only ones there in the middle of the day, but even with other people, there's plenty of room to spread out. If it's too windy though, the sand is so fine, it will feel like pellets hitting you so keep an eye on the wind. The water is fairly cold, potentially harsh, not always the best to swim in, especially for kids. But at times and in certain areas, it is safe to go in the water."
"Do you like miles of pristine white sand and absolutely clear, turquoise water? If not, you'll hate it here. For me, this place is perfect. We went on a Thursday and were 3 of the 5 people on the beach at all. We went back in Saturday with the weekend "crowd"- I counted 20 people spread out along the more than 2 miles of beach. Reviews say the beach is unswimmable- we swam. There is an undertow, but it was nothing compared to any California beach I've been to. The water is crystal clear and breathtaking. There were locals swimming far out, children wading and a few snorkelers. The kids loved the crashing waves, and I liked that they were never more than knee high. It made it easy to supervise (no life guards on duty). We loved this beach. There are bathrooms with showers and a tree trunk shower, which we thought was very fun."
