"Honest post... this place was great. Location was so convenient to some cool hikes (makaua falls, crouching lion) then of course 7'11 store was just the best for late night cravings and getting extra ice or supplies. But the bad would have to be how windy it is and the occasional rain. Can be relatively cold so make sure to bring a jacket. If you're gonna do a canopy tent then you should make sure you bring the additional sides of the canopy tent to block the wind, I'm telling you right now it can really be frustrating with the high winds. Lastly, the homeless people were pretty respectful and we didn't have any problems, but I'd definitely suggest not leaving anything out over night you wouldn't be upset about losing. Shoes, food, clothes, etc. Definitely keep it in your tents if possible. It was a great experience and the kids had so much fun with all that space and the playground area."
"Free parking and restroom, nice to take a rest during roadtrip."
"Sad! Beautiful beach but unfortunately ruined by humans. Unstable homeless allowed to sleep under pavilion and setup tents in the camping area. One lady kept approaching me up close and just staring. Pretty freaky. Also groups of loud campers until 3am. No parkkeeper to regulate or event to check permits. The bathrooms are also in disrepair and super dirty. Paid for 3 nights but packed up early after one night. I've solo wild camped in many 3rd world countries throughout the world and this was the most unsafe I've felt. Unfortunately, I have a feeling it's a systemic problem and not unique to this particular park."
"Nice place to stop and take a break and absorb a Cool Breeze off the Ocean along with a view of Brigham Young University in Laia. There is ample parking in the front off the road and additional parking in the rear. Please make a mental note the rear parking lot does have a gate which is locked at 7:00 p.m. there are nine campsites available. If you are a camper you will enjoy walking straight across the street to a 7-Eleven. There are his and hers restrooms which stay open 24/7. The playground consists of a sliding board spinning wheels that make noise a set of bongos climbing apparatuses and a padded floor under the entire system. There are various picnic tables available for the public there is a trellis with three tables underneath it by the water. There is a full size basketball and pickleball court which are illuminated for nite services till 10:30 p.m. Kaaawa is home very dedicated dog and cat lovers which makes for great conversation as you walk your pet."
"It is a very nice, well-maintained, and clean beach park. The 7-11 store across the street was really convenient, where I bought a bento box and ice cream for my lunch while enjoying a quick stop at the park."
