"While we didn't make it all the way to Waimoku Falls, the journey through the Bamboo Forest and the other falls along the way was definitely worth the hike. The beauty of the Bamboo Forest and the additional waterfalls made for a memorable and enjoyable experience."
"Worth the tough hike! Bring good shoes and water for each person. This is a decent climb, so take it slow and enjoy the natural beauty. The main falls are gorgeous and make the hike completely worthwhile. Keep going and get to the end for a beautiful view!"
"One of the most beautiful falls, this and its sister at the beginning of the trail are unbelievable natural wonders nestled against a back drop of impossibly lush jungle. We visited on two separate days one rainy and one sunny, and what I can say is that both conditions are spectacular provided you are dressed properly. Flip-flops are not recommended, and if you get cold easily then a rain shell would be a good choice. Keeping in mind the falls and most of the trail is located within a tropical rainforest climate, leaving a set of dry clothes and towels would be wise. Be sure to empty your bladders before the hike, and for the typical hiker who is already well-hydrated, you won't need to bring water. Go light and enjoy more. For my family, it was water sneakers, quick dry shorts and t-shirt. Don't forget your camera!"
"Breathtaking 400-ft falls pouring over sheer lava rock at the end of a 2-mile hike. It is definitely worth the trek on the Pipiwai Trail to get here. It took my 7 year old son and I, approx 1 hour to get here. Make sure you have good grippy hiking or water shoes. There is a stream below the falls you are able to cross. The boulders along this stream can be slippery."
"Great hike. Arrived 830a, only 6 other cars in parking lot. Spent about 2hrs round trip without stops other than to view Wailua Falls. The first falls (.5 miles up) was pretty much dry so I wouldn't expect much until it rains. Well marked trail, lots of built in steps. Bamboo forest was amazing and listen if it's windy. Wonderful, yet almost haunting sounds of bamboo clashing. Well worth the hike and drive. At the trail end, still a bit away from the falls for some reason, some folks shared they took to the river to get a closer view but warnings posted about the risks."
