"Beautiful little hike that crosses 13 river crossings. Most require rock scrabbling/hopping but there is a high probability of getting wet. Bring a bathing suit so you can jump in the cool water pool at the end! There is also a little bamboo jungle to walk through during your trek. There is no internet in this area so I would recommend downloading AllTrails and starting navigation Before starting your hike. Even if you decide not to do that, you will most likely encounter other hikers who can help you navigate."
"Easy hike with a bamboo forest an two waterfalls. Trail is not well marked so pay attention. Recommend going to the upper falls first, then hitting the bigger falls on the way back down with a swim to cool off!"
"Public reviews say 45 minutes each way. This was not the case with my young daughter. Overall, it took us 4 hours to complete it and that includes a nice swim for a break. Ginger scent is heavenly and Bamboo forest was peaceful. For the most part, the trail is relatively easy when not crossing the stream. The stream itself wasn't difficult for the adults in the group. I think the location is a little misleading. As a native resident of Maui, I wouldn't call this Waihee/Waiehu. I would say it's closer to Kahakuloa."
"Great hour in hour out hike! Was pretty flat most of the way however you do cross the river at least 5-6 times. Also remember the trails splits at the end. If you go right it’s a 2 minute walk to a waterfall and swimming hole. If you go to the left apparently there is another waterfall with a rope to get you up higher to another waterfall. Yes there was a lot of glass broken on the road and one car did have a window bashed out. However I would just recommend you don’t leave any valuables visible."
"We didn't have our car broken in to luckily. I have heard that the local police call this highway the diamond highway because of all of the shattered glass on the ground. I was stressed the whole time that our rental vehicle was going to be vandalized. I did leave the doors unlocked for that reason. The hike was amazing. The waterfall and swimming hole was perfect. Walking through the bamboo forest is super cool. I wish everyone could experience this hike safely."
