"It's a very good house to stay in, located in the town of Honomu. The location has an optimal balance of removal from development and nearness to the attractions around Hilo. Don't be daunted by the steep and curvy navigation (given its 1500 ft elevation), because the house is very neat and clean. All the amenities are there and the wireless connection is consistent. If you stay here, you'll never forget the view of the ocean--and on clear mornings... Mauna Kea!"
"Beautiful location on a lush hillside with mountain view behind and ocean view in front, about 30 min outside of Hilo. House is nicely decorated, full kitchen, beds are comfortable. It feels very peaceful and far away from the tourist crowds, but there is still easy drive access to the botanical gardens, Hilo, and Volcano National Park. Sitting on the wind protected but still open porch to watch the sun rise over the ocean was definitely a highlight of this vacation for us. Akaka falls, a lovely State park, is 15 min walk away. Down the hill, the local village has a wonderful bakery, coffee shop, and high quality woodworking and gift stores. We were very happy with this vacation home choice and definitely would stay there again."
