"We rented the Mango Cottage # 2 in Kihei from February 23 to March 1st, 2020. The photos on their web site looked nice, and being able to walk to the beach was a huge selling point for our family of 6 – me, my son and his 4 young boys. The previous week we had rented houses on the Big Island that were very clean and well stocked with coffee, tea, shampoo, soap, dishwashing and laundry detergent and lots of other staples. When we arrived at the Mango Cottage we were absolutely shocked. The place was dirty and not at all well equipped. There were not enough dishes – 5 bowls for 6 people, not enough cutlery for all of us (very few spoons and forks!). Several dishes were dirty, I put them all in the dishwasher before feeling comfortable to use them. A dish rack in the kitchen consisted of the rack but no drain board, there was no dish towel, the stove top was dirty. One small bag of coffee was provided for one use, no tea or any other staple except for ketchup and relish that looked pretty old. The worst was finding a box of Kleenex in the bathroom stuffed with used sanitary napkins! There was liquid soap for handwashing but no shampoo or other soap. The drawers in a small bureau in one of the bedrooms were dirty. Sand toys were dirty and some broken. The provision of some boogie boards was great except they also were not in great shape. During our stay we killed 4 cockroaches and tried to ignore the many potato bugs we saw daily. If we would have had a choice we would have left. Unfortunately we had paid ahead of time and were not able to cancel. The price for that rental was the highest of the 3 places we stayed at, close to Can. $ 650.00 per night. It was a very disappointing experience, and I am sharing it in the hope that the owners will take responsibility and take more pride in their property. It is nicely situated and literally a 5 minute walk to the beach. There is a nice garden with mango trees – hence the name – but it was unfortunately not the season for mangos. Unless there is a huge change in the maintenance of this property I would strongly advise against staying there."
"Very nice and quiet place, only a short walk to one of the best beaches on Maui! We really enjoyed our stay, and would definitely go back!"
"Had a wonderful time while staying here!"
