"Very impressive place! While vacationing in Maui, we were privileged to take part in their dog for a day program. It was a very simple process- we just walked in and asked if we could take out one of their dogs for a few hours. We ended up with the sweetest pup!! They provided a backpack with a towel, toys, water, treats and a list of suggested places to go. There are so many dog friendly beaches in Maui! We headed to Big Beach and spent a delightful few hours with our new buddy. What a love!! It was definitely a highlight of our vacation! I highly recommend!!!"
"We did the dog on demand while visiting Maui and it was the best experience ever. They make it super easy and give you toys, treats, water and a towel. They also give you a guide of where the best spots are to take your dog for play and food. We had Triggha and he’s the sweetest boy!! Loves attention and to play fetch with a ball. Highly recommend doing this program of visiting!!!!"
"We participated in the Dog on Demand program during our vacation to Maui. It was easy to sign up online. We came at the appointed time, waited a few minutes and sweet Olaf was brought out to us with a backpack full of water, a towel, toys, treats, poop bags and a seatbelt harness. They also gave us a slip of paper with the basics about Olaf and a QR code if anyone was interested in adopting him. Olaf was definetely energetic and has been at the shelter since November. He was so happy and seemed to enjoy the beach and brewery outing we took him on. We're not in a position to adopt him at this time so it was heartbreaking to drop him back off. You can sponsor a scholarship so the dogs will come with obedience training when they're adopted. The shelter seems very well run and organized. Taking Olaf out for the day was such a fulfilling way to spend a vacation day, highly recommend."
"Such great work for the animals of Maui! Lovely facility with outdoor play spaces and friendly staff. We did Dog on Demand while we visited from CA and LOVED it! If you are a solid dog person and want to give a big ole bag of love a break from the shelter you should sign-up!"
"I visited Maui Humane Society for their Dog on Demand volunteer activity. There are many volunteers and people dropping by to visit with the many animals (cats, dogs, bunnies) that need attention. Our assigned dog seemed to enjoy the car ride, forest hike, and park visit with us. Lots of energy (that we were prepared for). He came with a backpack with his own water bottles and towel + treats and supplies. We also visited the cat house with 2 large catios and many, many cats. They seemed to enjoy the pettings and attention we gave them. Freddie the tortoise was very active in his grassy pen."
