Reviews of Aloha Cottages
"My girlfriend and I stayed here years ago when there was a crazy downpour in Hana. We had been camping on Maui for a week and decided we needed a dry and warm place to stay. It was getting dark and we didn’t have a place to stay. Last minute we found these cottages. Absolutely amazing and we remember it and bring it up all the time."
"This place is AMAZING! We were looking for a last minute room as everything is PACKED in Maui. We were driving through the Aloha Cottages street and decided to give it a try. My girlfriend is VERY picky and I really had to convince her to get the room because of the other harsh reviews. I agreed to pay it in full if she wasn't satisfied. The old lady was super cute and friendly and the price was almost too good to be true. We weren't expecting too much of it, but were very surprised by the room we got. Super big living room, nice kitchen, big bathroom, big bedroom and nice balcony! Its honestly awesome for the price! Everything was super clean and smelled good! Toilet and sink in the bathroom were absolutely flawless, fridge and stove were immaculate, bedroom sheets were also super clean. You get a bunch of utensils to cook and lots of room to chill! We also loved the old cottage vibe it had! Highly recommend!!!"
"Amazing location and price! The cottage is outdated but very spacious and clean. The kids loved the place as they had their own room and lots of space. We didn’t use the fans as there was a great breeze from the windows( each room had two good size windows) The lady who manages it ( I guess she is the owner) is super nice! She made sure we know where is the restaurant, the stores and the nice beaches:)"
"Everything you've read in the other reviews is true (positive & negative). My husband and I stayed at the Aloha Cottages on April 10th. Our reservation was for an economy studio at $80/night. The owner upgraded us to a much larger room with a bay view free of charge! Very sweet. The cottage did have bugs, a geico on the ceiling, stained (but clean) liens, etc. I posted a photo of one of the bath towels to give you an idea what to expect for linens. Definitely line dried. Living among pests and reptiles is common in Hawaiian households. Even in 5 star hotels they beg you to seal even makeup to prevent insects. We were perfectly comfortable in the cottage. The next morning a local fellow even greeted us outside the cottage with fresh bananas to take with us. If you can handle potential bugs and clean (but stained) sheets the Aloha Cottages are a great economical choice!"
"We arrived in Hana at 6 pm without any reservations, and all the other hotels were booked. This was the only place available, and also the cheapest. We expected something bad, but instead found a very nice private cottage for just $100. The cottage was very spacious: large living room, a deck, large bathroom and a bedroom. There was no AC, but windows on all sides have blinds which can create a nice breeze when open. There was a fridge, a coffee maker and a full kitchen. Wooden walls and furniture were from the previous century, but were very well kept and repaired. We were happy with everything. The location is great, and some of the cottages seem to have a nice view (ask the owners if you want one). Although they maybe take credit cards, bringing cash is probably a good idea. It would be easier for an old couple to handle, and they would save on credit card fee. We would definitely stay here again if we come to Hana. We liked the atmosphere of the old house, and a very good deal!"
