"So I want to move here for a good year if I like it maybe longer, I'm from Boston, I'm 33 and I want a change! But I happen to be on the methadone clinic and I would need to continue dosing so I'm wondering if this is a good methadone clinic? If any one has any info they can give me id appreciate it. Thanks"

"I have chronic severe pain. With the new fda guidelines my pain management dr lowered my dose of pain meds to a level that didn’t even touch my pain. Having been on pain meds for years I am physically dependent and therefore emotionally dependent too as I cannot live in pain everyday! Having just moved to Maui I at this point couldn’t even find a new pain management dr accepting new patients, so either search the streets, withdraw (unacceptable) or go to a methadone clinic. Going to CHAMPS was the best decision I have ever made! Although methadone clinics are not for pain management, and methadone isn’t the best option for pain relief I prefer methadone as it’s long lasting so I’m not on the pain/pill rollercoaster! The people at CHAMPS have been absolutely stellar! They took me in and luckily I got in to see the dr immediately and it’s been awesome ever since! The dr is very good at what he does and has always been willing to listen and try to treat me for the best outcome so I have no desire or inclination to have to seek my medications anywhere else! The counselors too have been great too. I would say I highly recommend CHAMPS (because I do) but it’s the only clinic on Maui lol! So very lucky it’s the best!"

"I NEVER have been to the Methadone clinic on Maui. I had a few stashed in case of an emergency. And that emergency happened when a Maui Pain management Dr. Got busted. It was over a month that we had no pain pills, we were hurting and got the withdrawals. So my wife and I started doing 1 a day, and they helped. Every week we took less and gradually weaned of and felt real good. The only problem Now is dealing with the back pain. I have 4 deteriorated disks, I have pain everyday, and sometimes it hurt so bad I think about dying. Doctors these days are to cowardly to prescribe Oxy's and Morphine. The non caring Doctor I see now has cut me to 30mgs a day. I can't say anything, the Dr. Will tell me to find another Doctor. Does this clinic. prescribe Oxy's or morphine sulfate. Some one tell me. I have no quality of life, just pain."

"It’s a good program if u wanna change and get yourself together. Counselors can be very helpful and caring .. they are easy to reach out to. Although they do Need to address some of the things that go on and they look the other way instead of doing what they should do. Upgrade in nurse... champ clinic had helped me in many ways . I don’t plan on being on methadone for years..this program helped m stay off the streets so I’m greatful!!"

"The entire staff here is very understanding, even though I've seen first hand how difficult their job can be at times. Special thanks to Rhianna for her superstar help and Dr. Carlson for helping me taper off everything with subs. I used subs for 3 months to finally get off the methadone. I almost have 2 weeks clean. Detoxing off subs sucked, but I did it. I'm so happy to have my life back. My new chapter in life can finally start. Thank you guys! SD"
