Reviews of Ko`olauloa Health Center
"I have had nothing but good experiences in the past 5 years with this Health Center, both in Kahuku and Hau'ula .Their professionalism, efficiency, competence and accessibility combined with genuine caring is the very definition of excellence in health care (in my opinion)."
"Today I witnessed doctor Vincent Giani abuse a client to the point of danger. He bullied, ridiculed and berated the man and refused to properly care for his wound because the patient could not endure the pain without medicine. Through the open door Doctor Vincent Gianni expresses that he would not give him pain relief because he believed the Very ill elderly 380lb man was A drug addict because he in transition with housing.. so he ordered the wound bandaged without caring for the dead flesh- suggested the volunteers or even the sick man himself could do it. After learning the man had trouble breathing for 24 hours Doctor Vincent Gianni checked his blood oxygen and found it to be hovering around 80 and yet just sent him away within the half hour. Dr Giavani apparently doesn’t realize that he works at a community health center and as such he is paid to care for the community. I have filed the necessary paperwork with the Medical Board, just following up here. Everyone else at Koolaloa is remarkably capable, kind and professional. It’s too bad that Doctor Giani, left unchecked could end up ruining The Whole system. A bad doctor is a dangerous thing. He needs to go."
"Kualoa used to be a good health care center until they were required to put in a little work. On December 3,2018 I was involved in a car accident. After my no fault insurance was exhausted I need a referral to continue PT. When I seen Dr.Hopewell she assured me that she would fax over a referral to a PT so I could continue my treatment. After about a month in a half of no communication from kualoa health care I took it among my self to find a PT that is able to treat me as well as take my insurance. After do all the leg work of finding a PT, all Dr. Hopewell had to do was fax over a referral. She was reluctant to do it, I don’t understand why when I showed her documentation proving that I was involved in a car accident as well as documentation from my car insurance company stating that my no fault insurance had been exhausted. After starting PT my Specialist Dr notified that I would be needing more referrals in order to get more tests done. Kualoa health care refused to help. As a result I was forced to find another PCP. Interesting it only took in visit in order to get the help that I require and need. My new PCP Dr simply asked why couldn’t my older PCP provider Dr.Hopewell, or her nurse do the referral which is a very simple document. After talking to my new PCP Dr I felt that kualoa health care discriminating against me, and refused to help me further my treatment. Even after evidence and documentation supported my claim they still refused to help. After going over all the reason why they refused to help I along with my a few other people who are not African American could come up with only one reason my race. I been on this island for 6 years and never been treated with such prejudice. Not all African Americans are criminals. So in saying all this if you are African American I strongly suggest to you do not come here for treatment"
"I love that there's a health center in Hauula. It's a great option to have when you don't have a car to go to Laie or Kahuku. The staff and medical personnel are great and super nice. They do their best to make sure that you can see any one of their doctors as soon as they can fit you into the schedule. The hours are pretty great too especially for people like who me work during the day and don't usually get home till 4pm or 5pm."
"I was so pleased with my experience here! They got me in for an appointment the same day I called, staff was super friendly and helpful, and facilities were nice & clean. Really, really glad to know there is a good clinic in my neighborhood :)"
