"I left with so much more trauma than I went in with. I ran away from the facility and when I was caught and brought back the staff were all mad at me and not concerned at all. Some of the staff were incredibly insensitive. We would lounge around all day with barely anything to do. If you refused to go to the "classrooms" to do school work then you were not allowed out of the unit. I was drugged and forced to Kahi from another facility and when I finally woke up at Kahi there was a dead gecko under the "mattress" it was disgusting and smelled horribly. The environment is musty and gross, the shower drains would clog and overflow. This is NOT the environment that will help people in need of care. The only comfort I got was from other patients and I constantly got yelled at for being "too close" to another patient. When it was my birthday my mom bought me a book and gave it to me to read in Kahi (I had my birthday there). That book was confiscated later that day. I was not allowed to have my blanket that I sleep with at home (I can't fall asleep without it). The only good thing about this was the food. I am a picky eater, if the food being served was something that I didn't eat then I didn't get a proper meal for that meal time (usually dinner). I have Bulimia Nervosa and not one of the staff members did anything to stop me from throwing up all my food after a meal. There was a couple staff that were kind but they didn't work there often. I think one of the nice staffs name was Kevin, he was kind and would play cards with us."

"the staff dont care dont do nothing but js sit down, and charles is one of the male staff i went scarp with because he was being rude to me of no reason. He put his hands around my throat and made a mark but ig he had a reason. they strap u down in a chair and put a spit mask on u. I asked for scissors one time and cut but the staff right next to me js went over to the staff desk and told the male staff while i was cutting when she shoudve js took it away but over all kahi is funny but bad at the same time lmao"

"In 2019 I was kept on adolescence unit at the age of 18 just because I was a high school student at the time. The doctor was difficult to work with and would tell me it’s all in my head. Left with more trauma than when I arrived. I have finally been properly diagnosed with DID in 2022 and have flashbacks of all the horrible things I experienced while there. I have been hospitalized multiple times after that. Because of this place I don’t trust providers or hospitals. They caused more harm than good. I rather die before going back to them. Please don’t send your children here."

"i was only there for a bit but they helped me a whole bunch. i wish i was able to stay longer. i miss the food as well (it's really good omg man). dr.d, you da best even though you weren't my therapist. i felt like i was cared for and understood. thank you for the great experience :)"

"As you can see from other post/reviews this facility does more harm than good. As a troubled teen I was sent here to get a handle on my behavior which was simple teenage antics. I was put into an abusive adult environment that took advantage of me and left me damaged for life."
