"I brought my son here as the local Princeville urgent care center would not accept us as they planned to close in 33 minutes and told us to come back in the morning. In hindsight my aggravation at them not treating us later turned to appreciation as I am sure that our care at Samuel Mahelona would have been infinitely superior to the urgent care facility. We interacted with a total of 6 staff members at Samuel Mahelona and everyone was both incredibly professional and kind. The nurse who triaged us, the receptionist who checked our insurance, nurse Sarah who dressed my son's wounds, Dr. McAlister who did an excellent assessment of my son and diagnosed the break in his thumb, the X-ray technician, and finally the male nurse who splinted my son's hand. The people at Samuel Mahelona even contacted the Wilcox Bone and Joint Center to have them follow up with us in a week to ensure the bone was healing properly. Bottom line, I was impressed with the high level of care and compassionate service provided to us at the Samuel Mahelona Emergency Room."

"I was experiencing chest pain that I initially thought was heartburn, but it was so severe and persistent even after trying to treat it I was becoming concerned that I was having a heart attack (family history of heart problems). When we walked in and I said I was having chest pain, they took me back immediately and I saw the doctor within a few minutes. Dr Boyd was very nice, and the nurse was great and very efficient. I received an EKG right away, and they pulled blood for a blood panel not long after. Everything was normal, thank goodness. Turns out I was having a severe esophageal spasm, which is apparently very painful. The nurse gave me some foul tasing concoction to drink, and 20 minutes later I was feeling much better. After taking an X-ray to be sure everything was OK, they discharged me. Considering the circumstances, it couldn't have been a better experience."
