Reviews of Huaka'i Luau at Maalaea Harbor Maui
"Delicious food and beverages. Such talented music and traditional dancing. What a great, inclusive show. Very welcoming and made us feel like ohana (family). Wish I took photos of the show."
"Is a very reasonable cost for a luau. We had regular not VIP so we were behind a post and you can see from the pictures that you can't really see the band or the main stage. However, the food was very good. Despite the other reviews, I thought it was better than most food. The size of the venue means less crowds. I think other places have much bigger crowd of people. Overall, I think this is a great value and I would definitely recommend it."
"If google let me give a 0-star rating I would have given that rating. We visited Maui ocean center on Dec 5th. Since the seascape restaurant was inside Ocean center thought of enjoying the show. While booking we mentioned Vegetarian meal preference. On Dec 5th Maui had heavy rains. Most Luaus canceled and refunded on that day, but this one didn't. When we went they made us wait in a queue. We stood drenched in rain for almost 1 hour. They finally let us in. 4 of us went (me, my husband, and kids) to spend around 350 dollars and this was the vegetarian food they served. We didn't even touch the food it was so bad. because of flood and wind, they hardly performed for 10 mins. If they couldn't perform they should have rescheduled the show. Worst service."
"All factors considered, this was a nice Luau. It is a family operation and I believe they only perform a few times each week. The music, singing, and dancers all performed well as they shared different styles of dancing from the Hawaiian Islands and Tahiti. Contrary to other reviews, the food portions and taste were good. The price was within range of other Luaus we considered. We were especially delighted that even with a windy evening, they still had the fire knife performance. To help ensure all attendees are able to see the dancers, they had 3 side mini stages in addition the area front and center. For the fire knife dance performance, we moved into a patio area of the aquarium. For the meal, it is assigned seating and our family was fortunately positioned near one of the side stages with a great view of Maalaea harbor and Haleakala in the background. I do recommend that you arrive on time, if not a little early. Again, seating is assigned. But it's nice to be settled and have your first of 2 paid for drinks in hand before the entertainment starts.. It wasn't clear to us where best to park, but for others you should know the aquarium and shops "Public Parking" is free after 5pm. You should park in that area."
"Best luau price in Maui. So much food (Mahi Mahi, pork, chicken, salad, rolls, cake, etc) The show is interactive and kid friendly. You truly feel like you are at a bbq with family. The location is mostly indoors so it gets warm. It is a smaller area so it can be hard to see depending on where your table is. The fire dancer was my favorite! There is no waiter so you do have to get your own drinks from the bar. (2 complimentary drinks). I wish there would have been an opportunity to take photos with the dancers after the show as I’ve seen at other luaus."
