"Upon my arrival at this pediatric office, I noticed that the decor was extremely beautiful, warm and inviting, but please don't be fooled by appearances. My two year old son and I were greeted accordingly by the front desk, yet we were never greeted in a welcoming or friendly manner. It was apparent that the staff was too busy socializing rather than tending to their duties and they made you feel as though you were interrupting them. My son was very sick and a warm smile would've been the best medicine for his discomfort and pain. Once I notified the front desk that my son was on medicaid (which was only temporary and he's no longer on it), they immediately exuded a very demeaning attitude. I will exclude their ignorance due to the fact that they were all very young. Which is a shame because I myself am a young mother, therefor I assumed they would show more compassion. That was a poor assumption on my part. I will note that the nurse practitioners did a much better job at reassuring me that my son was in good hands, but after experiencing Southern California pediatric care, this was exceptionally lackluster. After the general evaluation from the nurses, we waited fifteen minutes to see Dr. Amrhein. Which was pretty reasonable considering I've had to wait much longer in the past. I'd love to say it was worth the wait. But once again, it was another very disappointing introduction. We were never greeted with warmth or compassion, only with disdain and a monotone robot. I understand that doctors have a difficult and emotionally taxing job, but when it comes to children, pediatricians should never falter in their performance. Not much attention was paid towards his illness with the flu. Rather, I was reprimanded for breastfeeding him and was told I need to switch him to cows milk (I specifically told her he refuses to drink cows milk). She stated that I was rotting his teeth. She SHOULD know that the sugar content in cows milk is far higher than in breast milk and is far more likely to rot baby teeth. I consulted my pediatric dentist and she said this was completely asinine and that my pediatrician was ignorant. My son's teeth were in perfect condition. Lastly she exclaimed that my son became too fixated on things, why? Because he repetitively pointed out the numbers and letters he saw in the room. I was appalled by this. It wasn't what she said but HOW she said it, like there was something wrong with his psychosis. I'll have you know, my son is nearly 3 now and he can already READ, WRITE the entire alphabet and do simple addition and subtraction. He's utterly brilliant for a child his age. In conclusion, she ignored my general concern about his sickness and focused on a completely irrelevant and nonexistent issue. I will give her an overall 2 stars due to the cleanliness of the office and because of the redeeming qualities of the nurses. Would I recommend this office to family and friends? NO I WOULD NOT."
