"The original reason I went to Dr. Thorp was due to a very emotional and serious break up with a mentally ill person who up until that point never appeared mentally ill. The only reason I am even gracing her page with 1 Gold star is because she managed to help provide some mental clarity and understanding to a complex situation which is what I was so desperately grasping and in need for because the events that transpired with that person defined all logic. Now let me break down to you why she is still an ineffective therapist that even with that situation can barely help anyone. For one she isn't on call for support when you are on the verge of reaching out to that abuser, if I didn't have a fantastic support system from my family I would have gone back to that person. The reason people pay for a therapist is normally because they don't have that needed support structure all the time from friends and family so they are willing to pay to obtain it. If that is what you are seeking keep on looking because you won't find it from her. Second problem is the fact that she never listens, I have explained my entire situation of being inured in the classroom and now being an IEP student and all the affects it has had and what doctors have said etc and whenever I mention something from either last session or more back she asks questions like it's the first time she's hearing about certain things. That is so annoying and frustrating and time wasting because it's only 50 min sessions and the time being spent for myself to explain things I've already told her over and over again and sometimes multiple times in the same session because she forgets even there, it's a waste of valuable resources that could be spent elsewhere. If you're looking for a competent therapist who will not only listen, actually takes notes on her note pad instead of keeping it for decoration on her lap, work on developing a relationship with you, one that feels genuine and sincere in her actions and memory then look elsewhere because that's not what you will find here. You will find here a woman who literally doesn't care, just wants to let you vent and collect a pay check, she is not invested in your journey and will not provide you tools and solutions to problems, if anything she will cut you off and not let you fully express your thoughts and opinions and be like, "You're not over that yet?" You will be left with nothing but anger and frustration and not the good kind of anger of self discovery but the kind that you could get for free at your local supermarket because the cashier doesn't understand what you're saying or looking for. Bottom line don't waste your time with this one, look for a therapist that actually cares about their job and the quality care they provide you."
