"My husband and I drive a lot to Mammoth. We have a cabin on Silver Lake. We found Lake George years ago and hiked around it. We now do this every year because it’s not a long or hard hike. It’s also beautiful. When you walk on trail to Lake George you can continue to Barrett Lake and TJ Lake. We walk by all of them."
"We just stayed one night tent camping but, found our spot #16 very private, pine tree scattered and accommodating. Beautiful small campground that does not take reservations. Flushing toilets and very clean bathrooms. I do not know if they have showers, as I didn't see any. Lake George and surrounding lakes are quite picturesque!"
"Great campground, very accessible, for high elevation lakes. Keep in mind it's bear country and bears will stroll right through camp, which means you MUST keep all food locked up in the bear lockers. It's also very lake-focused from the location here, if you want to do any hiking in the forest... ... well let's just say you'll be by Lake Mary Road or whatnot for a lot of it, so as nice as it is, expect a bit of a hike to hit the mountains and woods."
"Amazing campground! The grounds are well kept and the surrounding area is absolutely beautiful. All of the sites are right next to Lake George. There are also a few great hikes directly linked to the grounds. I would highly recommend checking this place out of you are looking to camp in Mammoth Lakes."
"Nice weather. Parking lot was full. Turned out to be hikers. I was there to fish. Been here 6 hours still no fish. Parking lot for camping was closed. It would have been nice had it been open because it was closer to left back where we fished. Bathroom at back left was locked... Had a bear come around around 2pm and back around 5:30pm. Got about 20' - 30' away before somebody used bear spray to run the bear off... A different bear with 2 cubs came around a few times in between... As I am writing this the mama bear and cubs are back..."
