Reviews of International Alpine Guides
"My partner and I did our Avi 1 course, and followed up with a day of guided backcountry split boarding, with Miles at IAG because we were so thoroughly impressed by his capable and confident instruction and guiding capabilities. We went from 0 backcountry experience, to safely being able to plan our own tours, with Mile's help - unlocking some of the finest terrain in the world has been a bit of pure joy!"
"I needed a crash course in alpine touring in January so I could head to Banff (Skoki) with confidence. IAG was the only company of 3 I reached out to that was able to help. They were flexible regarding the date due to storms and were responsive to emails and phone calls. My guide, Ethan, was definitely an expert and shared lots of tips from safety gear to how to stay warm to ski handling and skiing techniques. I wasn't sure I'd need some of what he shared, but I actually did! Glad I paid attention; it was -22 degrees on my trip. It was a really good day and if I ever need help again I know where to go."
"My brother and I, who have very limited climbing experience, signed up for the Intro to Ice Climbing. This excursion exceeded our expectations. Our guide, Tim Farr, who has over 20 years of experience, gave us an amazing experience. Over the course of the day we learned not only how to properly climb ice, but he gave us on overview of all the equipment, how it's used, and how to properly prepare to climb on your own. Highly recommend this trip for anyone looking to do something a little different."
"I did the Lover's Leap multipitch one day course and it was amazing. Lover's Leap is wonderful. The staff at IAG was aleays there to help me planning the trip (I traveled from Europe) and Daniel, my guide, was professional, friendly and reassuring. Climbing with a person you met a few hours ago can be stressful, but Daniel made me feel at ease."
"Did the March 18, 2023 6-day Ortler ski mountaineering tour (European Alps) with two other buddies and had the best time! The guide was awesome! He always found skiing that was a blast and great snow with a totally fun itinerary both in skiing and huts. The lodging in the Rifugio’s (mountain huts) was great, comfortable beds, showers, and one place had a sauna. Also they all have bars - skiing backcountry in the alps and ending up with a cold beer at the bottom is legit. IAG did say this tour had the best food and I’m pretty sure they were right - also a lot of the trip was in Italy so not too unexpected for the food to be awesome. I always felt safe thanks to the guide despite some avalanche danger (am from California so the Alps seem a bit sketchier comparatively). We also did some crevasse rescue training and avalanche rescue refreshers which was a great add on. Made some great friends also, as the people who sign up for these trips are probably pretty cool. If you haven’t skied in the alps I absolutely recommend this trip. We just came back and are already planning next years adventure."
