Reviews of Smith Family Garden Luau
"First time experiencing a Luau! It was a wonderful time! It was my partner’s birthday and they reached out in advance so they could shout them out, it was a kind gesture! The food was amazing, the Ohana spirit was always there and the show was a glorious expression of their culture. It was awesome to learn about it."
"The luau was amazing. I really felt like these people were opening their doors and welcoming me into their family. They were so kind and it truly felt like a backyard party. The food was both plentiful and delicious! The show was also fantastic!!!"
"Amazing experience! This event was recommended to me by someone at my church who is actually one of the extended family members of the Smith family. The whole family was very warm and friendly to the point where I genuinely felt like I was part of the family for the evening, and in a way where this felt much more authentic than your typical tourist experience. The grounds are beautiful, the food was incredible, and the music and dancing in the show were spectacular. The price you pay is a great value when you consider it pays for the entire evening (about a 4-hour experience) including the tour of the grounds, a delicious all-you-can-eat buffet (including dessert), open bar, and the after-dinner show. One more note on the food: this is not your typical restaurant buffet. It's truly home cooking and some of the best food I've ever had. They also organize the line in such a way where you don't feel like there's a mad rush to the buffet when dinner was served. The evening is very well managed and planned for a very relaxing and enjoyable experience. I highly recommend this experience for anyone visiting Hawaii."
"Short version: Come for the show but skip the dinner. Long version: The dinner part is extremely overpriced. The dinner is served buffet-style and includes various salads, Mac salads, mashed potatoes, etc. The kalua pork was very good but everything else was pretty generic/mediocre, especially considering the price. The desserts were what I was most looking forward to and was quite disappointed, it was just a couple different jellos, a sheet cake, pineapple chunks, and rice pudding. The cocktails are free and they do have several varieties as well as a couple beer options and wines. I am a relatively petite adult so I don't eat or drink very much and it definitely was not worth the price for me. The show tickets are currently only $25 but dinner and the show is $140, not a single person in our group ate/drank anywhere near $115 worth of food/drinks and we had largely skipped lunch thinking we would want to save room for a yummy dinner. It would be nice if they had different dinner structures where you could just get a ticket for a single plate instead of all you can eat. I will say though they do have the dinner process down very smoothly, they got a few hundred people through the dinner lines quite quickly. The show was really good and was a good length of time. They did a variety of different styles of dances/performances and it was really enjoyable. The ticket price is well worth your time. The grounds are really beautiful and it was nice to walk around for a bit. They sell birdseed for people to feed the birds though and as a result the roosters kept running up at us and some even were fighting each other to be closest to us even though we didn't have any bird seed, I don't like when eating establishments encourage the chickens to be so habituated to getting fed by humans, they are a nuisance and can spread salmonella."
"What a wonderful time! Absolutely beautiful grounds (so much to see). Easy parking and a really lovely show. Also the best pork I've ever had! The staff are so friendly and kind. We came for my mother's birthday and they really pulled out all the stops for her! Really made her day! Also there's a great tram tour that picks you up when you arrive and guides you through the gardens, explaining the history, plant and animal life! 100% would recommend if you have a chance."
