"My wife and I came to Oahu with our 3 daughters (8, 12 & 14), wanted to try surfing for the first time, and were hoping we could all learn together. We found Jetty Betty online, and luckily they were able to fit us into their schedule. They met us at the beach in their van with everything we needed - boards, rashguards and a lifevest for the little one. Mikey ran the lesson for my wife and I, and our 2 older girls. Vanessa took care of our 8 yr old. Amazing lesson and such amazing people! They are both so warm, welcoming, friendly and knowledgable. My little one was a bit apprehensive, and Vanessa quickly put her at ease and gave her the confidence to ride. They were in the same area as us, and she rode a bunch of the similar waves we did. My 12 and 14 stood up each time and even rode all the way to the shore! My 12 yr old was very nervous at the beginning, but with the first wave, she realized she had nothing to worry about and had huge smiles the rest of the time. Mikey and Vanessa are both very professional, laid back and made us feel very safe. They know the area so well and helped us understand the basics of surfing, reading the ocean, and the importance of safety. We saw many people in the same area who didn't have lessons, were hacking/struggling at it, not able to get any waves, while we were consistently catching good waves time after time. Mikey is great with helping you set up to really catch the appropriate wave and riding it in. We felt spoiled for sure. The two hours was the perfect amount of time, we all left feeling we had plenty of surf time and were just starting to tire out. Thanks again Mikey and Vanessa!! Highlight of our vacation."

"Easy last minute/same day accommodations via phone. My teen daughter and I met Mikey at the beach. Rash guard shirts and boards provided. Started on the beach with some lessons on technique and safety. Mikey is also a certified lifeguard so that gave me added piece of mind. We were in a group of 3 and he had us rotating through like clockwork catching wave after wave. We were both beginners, but we we're riding waves in no time. "Stand tall, fall. Stay low, GO!" If you're a beginner and want to learn to surf, this is the way to go."

"I booked a two hour lesson over the phone with Vanessa. The next day, I met Mikey, her husband, who was on prompt and on time. Mikey was extremely friendly and we hit it off right away. I was the only one who signed up for the day, so it was like a private lesson. We walked down to the beach with the boards. We spent about five minutes on the beach going over a few basics, then we were in the water. I was standing up on my second wave, it was incredible! Mikey is an excellent instructor, very encouraging, and makes sure you have a good time. We stayed out the full two hours, and I was wiped. I can see why some people would end their lesson early, it is fairly tiring. I would recommend this experience to anyone, especially first timers!"
