"Referred from The Army. Uncomfortable experience walking in. They want the patient to sign a typo-filled waiver saying they don't guarantee their work or the patient satisfaction because "everyone's genes are different, and everyone heals different" but offered assurance that the dentist will do his best."
"One star only because Dr. Kawasaki did cleaning really well, but a really big problem this office has is transparency and explanation to the patients about their medical coverage and treatments. Another problem that I had with this office is everyone taking everything personally when there was just miscommunication. When I first went there and wanted to get a cleaning done everything was going good, we ran out of time so only the bottom was done and I was coming back in for the top cleaning. I had understood that I was going to be charged individually for the cleaning top and bottom so using basically my two cleanings for the year from what was told and I could understand. This had confused me, so when I was there I was trying to ask about it but Dr. Kawasaki said he couldn’t explain it because he had another patient waiting and that Julie would help explain things to me so I’d make an appointment with her to talk about it? So before I came in for the second cleaning, I was trying to verify over phone BUT she didn’t know either and had to keep asking Dr. Kawasaki about it and basically playing phone tag me. All I was trying to get was clarification from the dental office receptionist about the charges. THAT’S ALL. Another concern that I had expressed to Julie was how Dr. Kawasaki made me feel every time he asked how much time he had left to the assistant Lily. I was just telling Julie that if I tell her how my teeth are feeling then maybe extending the amount of time before me coming in would be best so we can get done what needs to be done and Dr. doesn’t have to worry. Then upon coming in for the top cleaning Dr. Kawasaki expressed that he couldn’t sleep at night AFTER WHAT JULIE HAD SAID I SAID (given I don’t know what she told him I said) and he said AFTER HEARING WHAT JULIE HAD SAID he said he felt judged so I should go somewhere else to get dental work done, and he said he was going to reverse all charges. I’ve never been turned away ever like this before especially when all I want to know is what was being charged. Dr. Kawasaki was saying that he would explain to me because he’s been working with HDS for a really long time, but just a few questions about medical billing and expressing concerns about my treatment IMMEDIATELY had me turned away? Overall, this office has really bad professionalism and if you don’t want to get turned away in the nature that I did then avoid coming to this office at all costs. I don’t normally write reviews, but in all my life I have to say that this was a really hurtful moment for me to have had to experience."
"I have been going here for my cleaning for a couple of years, he kept pushing me to get my wisdom tooth taken out, I had to go to another dentists just to get the xray done and then off to a oral surgeon I went, got my wisdom tooth pulled. Come back for my last filling, and he acts totally out of character with me about you need to go back to the other dentist. He may need to go ahead and retire. Don't go here. He isn't even remembering anything he said to do, and it was also written down. Update - So I get a letter in the mail that he is terminating professional dental care, which is fine I would never go back to him, but the kicker is he keeps saying he advise me to get a root cancel, no he advised me over two years to get my wisdom tooth pulled, he doesn't even remember what he says, root canal and wisdom tooth extraction is two different things. I think he may need to retire. He is having memory loss, and I will have to reach out to the board of dentistry to do a wellness check on this man. Like I said, there are tons of other dentists on the island, and please choose wisely."
"This was one of the most unprofessional dental visits I have had in my life. Being in the military, I have had a mix of good and bad experiences but this office was even more unprofessional than that. Dr. Kawasaki is the unprofessional individual, the office staff was very kind and understanding. During a pandemic, the utensils used for an X-ray had no plastic covering and it was unclear if they were sanitary or not (first red flag). I was told I was going to just get a X-ray done and all of a sudden they started prepping to drill in my mouth without a word of options or procedure. Since I have terrible anxiety when it comes to dentists I was already close to bolting. I received the topical jelly and after confirming what was being done I asked to use the restroom so I could calm down and relax before I received a huge shot in my mouth. Mind you this is after, I expressed that I had bad anxiety and past experiences did not go well. The doctor told me to wait after the shot, and in response I tried to explain that I needed to go before the shot and when I tried to sit up he placed his hand on my shoulder and pushed me back. I quickly pushed myself upright and remained respectful even after he threw the needle and utensils on the tray and stated that we were done here and that I would have to find somewhere else to go. This office is terrible, please be wary."
"Active duty service member referred to this dental office. Dr. Kawasaki and his assistants are very kind and helpful. In addition, he was also kind enough to explain the procedures before, during, and after, something I am not accustomed to as my past military dentist usually just do the work. However I do understand they’re under time constraints with a massive caseload, so I don’t hold it against them. It was just nice to know all that was/wasn’t completed. Overall great experience."
