"We stopped here thinking it was a regular bar and decided to stay for the experience and try something new. The bartender gave us the spiel about trying it plain first to get the real taste and how he does a ritual where he drinks with us from the coconut bowl. At the end we pretty much felt scammed into shooting two shots each plus buying the bartender two shots as well. When I asked before the “ritual” as to how many shots we were buying at $7 each he said two. Thinking it was 1 for each of us total. Then he recommended to get a “mixed drink” where they hide the flavor which was pretty good but another $15.. The taste of the kava was awful on its own and we felt forced to chug what felt like a large amount. I can understand that’s it’s an acquired taste and I’m sure others would enjoy it but left an extra bad taste in our mouths to pay almost $60 when we just wanted to go out to a place to have one drink."
