"The matcha crème brûlée is one of the best desserts I’ve ever had!"
"It was a genuine privilege to watch a master at his craft. The food was fresh and delicious, uniquely prepared in front of you. The restaurant is a discrete and intimate experience with only 10 seats (6 at the counter to watch the chef). We had the 21 piece option and it is truly worth it."
"Absolutely incredible omakase experience. Being able to watch each bite be created is truly a treat. Each course was completed with such care and finesse. Easily our favorite dinner on our visit to Hawaii, and would be the first thing I booked on a revisit to the area. The menu was incredible with a variety of things I had never tried plus some of your favorite sushi options. Loved this experience so much. Thank you Sushi Aki!"
"Sushi Aki has only been open for a few months (since late April this year) but seems to have quickly gained popularity among foodies and sushi-lovers on island. After I’ve heard talk around town, I decided to give it a try. It’s located next to a more well-established Japanese restaurant in Kaimuki with the same name and ownership, and lies behind a black door. Inside is so welcoming, with beautiful textures and colors with a signature wall which is reminiscent of the sea. I ordered off of the Ala Carte menu this time, although their Omakase courses ($135/$200) seem to be popular choices. The head chef and all of the staff provided great service and demonstrated diligent care with attention to detail, frequently cleaning off my sushi plate and making sure my drinks were taken care of. All of the sushi, chawanmushi, and tempura were top notch and again highlighted the Japanese care for the customer experience and love for their craft. I understand why this is a popular spot for many and assume this place will continue to exceed expectations, especially with its rotating menu which is updated once a month."
"This is a new gem to be discovered in Kaimuki. Located right next to sister restaurant Aki, this new sushi spot hidden behind its unpretentious black door is one of the best in town when it comes to providing an authentic Omakase sushi experience. They provide two tiers of courses at reasonable price points and provide much value with its food quality, service, and overall dining experience. Word is spreading about this new spot, and with its limited seating I wouldn’t be surprised if spots start filling up quick."
