Reviews of Little Saigon
"PLEASE DO NOT EAT HERE! My boyfriend and I originally wanted to eat at Genki Sushi located next door but they had a huge crowd of people waiting to be seated. So we thought lets try this Vietnamese place. We walked in and found it odd that the place was empty on a Sunday afternoon. Before being seated we asked the uncle working if they served alcohol or were BYOB, which he angrily answered "no, go next door if you want." So we left to have a beer and came back. We sat down at a table, the uncle came out and had a very bad attitude. He never gave us a menu, but asked "What you want?" We ordered vegetarian pho and vegetarian egg rolls. He replies "we don't have vegetarian we only have beef broth." We said whatever that's fine. When the soup came out IT WAS VEGETARIAN BROTH! I am half Vietnamese, I can speak the language and am very familiar with the food. The whole time my boyfriend wanted to walk out, but I wanted to give the place the benefit of the doubt, like maybe he was just a grumpy old man. We ate the food, it was ok. Every time the uncle came to our table it seemed like he was irritated we were there. My boyfriend walked out because he was over it. I went to the counter to pay, I still included a tip. The uncle never said thank you and still seemed angry. So I asked him "Uncle, did you not want us here?" and he replied, "No! I never wanted you in here." I was shocked. I went to my car to tell my boyfriend what happened, and it made him upset. We thought he was discriminating us because we are gay and my boyfriend had a rainbow colored mask. I felt bad because I wanted to stay when he wanted to walk out. So I marched back into the restaurant and yelled at the uncle in Vietnamese to let him know it was not ok how he treated us. The uncle was visibly surprised. I called my mom to tell her what happened. Come to find out she went to the restaurant and had a similar situation. She asked (in Vietnamese) if they were BYOB and the owner told her no and she should leave. She scolded him for being so rude and left. Apparently he does not like people who ask about alcohol. By far the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant. I am especially disappointed as a Vietnamese person that I had this awful of a time in a Vietnamese establishment. I am surprised this place is open. Please do not support this awful place."
"My soup was good, my wife's pad Thai was not, and my mother's pho was just Ok. We felt like more of a burden to our server than a customer and the place could use some cleaning. The price was Ok."
"It was a great place to go if you love homecook Vietnamese food with ingredients that is all fresh serve. I'm not sure if it's just the couple who owns the restaurant and also serving customers. I observed the lady cook in the kitchen and the guy is the server and cashier. They are pretty fast and right amount of waiting. It's not fancy in the interior of the restaurant, actually it's quite, no other music other than a soft calming music background that is used for meditation. Brought my family there my husband don't like the quietness but he's satisfied on the food. We all oredered different kinds of soup bowls and they all great."
"Soup has good taste. My complaints are that when you order a XL or a L it seems like you have the same amount of noodles, just the bowl is bigger. Hmmmmm Also, sometimes the meat has an OLD taste to it. Otherwise....the soup is awesome. The meat is always cooked well and tender. Everything is tasty and hot! Little on the expensive side, as usual. Noodles are cooked very nice also. One last thing. Some people are complaining about the Pad Thai. Well.....Pad Thai is Thai food. This is a Vietnamese Restaurant, so don't be too hard on them! Go eat at a Thai spot if you want Thai food. Hello! Nice owner. I like going here."
"Dependably good Vietnamese food and very nice owners make this a homey, delicious stop when the urge for pho and summer rolls strikes. Very clean taste!"
