"Great spot for a quick bite. We came for brunch. We loved, loved, loved the avocado toast. It tastes as good as it looks. Our server was helpful and with our many food allergies was able to get us what we needed. Too bad it's our last day here otherwise we would have loved to come back again."
"Came here for happy hour(3-5). We ordered two cocktails/beer each and some poke, which was small, but to be expected since it's happy hour. Transitioned to dinner menu, I ordered the 3 course meal for $60 you can choose soup or salad, ribeye or miso cod, and chocolate cake or cheese cake. The hubbie ordered the special- pork chop and crusted shrimp, and my son did the prime rib with shrimp. Let me tell you the food exceptional. You won't be disappointed!"
"A 5 out of 5 experience. I had made a reservation online and the hostess was able to seat us immediately upon arrival. The waiter was attentive, fast and kind. I ordered the avocado toast, which is very colorful, full of flavor, and fun to look at. I had a side of scrambled egg whites cooked to order which were well-seasoned. I also got a side order of charcoal "volcano" pancakes with real maple syrup and loved it. The "volcanic eruption" theme of this restaurant works well. It is located in an area with several other restaurants connected to it, and still Basalt was very clean and peaceful in its own space. Loved this entire experience."
"Tried Basalt for breakfast and was a bit disappointed. We ordered the avocado toast (plus poached egg and side of bacon) and the meat omelette. The service was efficient yet not overly friendly. While I found the aesthetic to be beautiful and luscious the food left a bit to be desired. To start, the bread used for the “toast” is entirely too thick. The whole middle of the bread was not toasted/crunchy texture but almost mushy under the crushed avocado. Speaking of the avocado -and I can’t believe I am going to say this -there was way too much of it on the bread. I appreciated the greens and pumpkin seeds for a nutritional boost, but I personally don't enjoy having to eat avocado toast with a fork & knife. I am very glad I added the poached egg and bacon; both were well prepared and tasty. It was well plated, but was “style over substance.” The meat omelette had a generous (perhaps too much like the avocado) amount of meat inside. It came with home fries which were either so overdone they fell apart on the fork or were really soft. The differing textures of the potatoes were off-putting. We chose an english muffin which came with a fresh fruit jam; these were the highlight of the dish."
"Being back in Hawaii and eating all my favorite foods. My husband wanted the prime rib hash and he rated it a 9/10. My son got the charcoal pancakes with eggs and bacon. He rated it 8/10. I got the basic breakfast which consist of eggs Portuguese sausage, potatoes and toast. I rate it a 8/10. The service was fantastic and everyone was really nice. The restaurant is very clean but if you sit in the patio, you must be prepared for the pigeons to be around. Fun place and great experience."
