"The Christmas Light train was so much fun!! Cozy, inviting, and cheerful. The goodies bags were a big hit. Totally started the holiday spirit for us."
"Historic railroad in Virginia City, Nevada, offering local rides to see the landscape, mines, and historic buildings. Gift shop, bathrooms, and parking are all available. Very kind and knowledgeable staff, also kid and pet friendly. A must see when in Virginia City."
"If you like steam trains, this one is great! The ride takes you back in time and experiencing this antique technology is fascinating. I love the sounds of the steam locomotive. It's peaceful and free of the hurried and overwhelming noise that modern locomotives make. There's an on-board historian and commentator who has decades of knowledge and experience. He adds a lot to the ride. I can say much more, but it's best that you find out for yourself. What a wonderful, relaxing and enjoyable time there is to be had with the V-T Railroad."
"Taking a ride on the Virginia City train is a fantastic way to indulge in nostalgia and escape the typical outdoor activities like hiking, biking, or swimming. The conductor, who happened to be a professor, added an educational twist to the experience, sharing captivating stories about the area's mining history. Virginia City itself is a treasure trove of touristy attractions, from saloons to antique shops and mouthwatering BBQ joints. Just be prepared for some slightly steep slopes and make sure to wear comfortable shoes. During the holiday season, the train offers themed rides like the haunted tunnel and the Polar Express, adding an extra layer of excitement. The journey itself lasts for about an hour, followed by 3 hours to explore the city, and another hour for the return trip. Keep your eyes peeled, as you might even spot some wild animals if you're lucky."
"An attraction worth visiting! Conveniently located near the main throughodrag of town. For tickets about $20 for adults and $8 for kids, it is also very affordable for a beautiful 35 min train ride through the Comstock mine area and a very insightful, and often funny, narration of the history of the area. Don, our guide today was really informative and had tons of energy. There is seating in a covered and open cart. We road on a steam engine but was also told they have a diesel engine as well. I would call ahead of time to inquire which one runs prior to your arrival. A quaint gift store is on the grounds and offer common souvenirs and cold drinks for sale. Friendly staff."
