"I have gone to Van Patten's dental practice for years. They are professional and efficient with an eye for what's best for their patients. I have recommended them to many a friend and family member."
"Worst dentist I have ever had. When I first went in for my initial visit they kept me waiting for a long time. They finally did my xrays, but then kept me waiting for the doctor's exam (for almost an hour) because they had an "emergency." So, I eventually had to reschedule, so two visits taking my time. When I came in the second time, I was also kept waiting. Although I had insurance, the office staff pestered me about my insurance payments, rather than the insurance company directly. Dr. Van Patten said that I had to have a root canal, my second on the same tooth. I went to a specialist and then returned to Dr. Van Patten on the same day. I needed to move fast to get my dental needs met as my insurance was under Cobra. Because of all Van Patten's delays, I had to spend almost 1200 for 2 extra months on Cobra to continue my dental insurance. I told Van Patten that I needed a new crown as my old one had been almost entirely decimated by the two root canals and repairs had been attempted twice previously (after my first root canal) but the repairs kept falling apart. I also asked for the new crown as I had insurance at that time and it was due to expire. Dr. Van Patten insisted on repairing the old crown; his repairs apart a month later, after my insurance had expired. I saw a crown specialist and learned that given the age of my crown, the state of it, and the fact that I had decay under the crown, I had needed a new crown. The new crown cost me $1500 out of pocket because my insurance had expired. Although Dr. Van Patten's office was made aware of this fact, the office still wanted to charge me for the lousy work that bordered on malpractice. Within a month of my last visit, I was getting "past due notices" and MULTIPLE phone calls daily, including during the Christmas and New Years holidays. They do lousy work, overcharge for it, and then harass you with threatening phone calls even though you dispute the bills. In my opinion, Dr. Van Patten's office should reimburse me for the cost of the new crown, which would have been covered by my insurance and the extra month that I had to pay for my Cobra because they delayed on their work. If my claim was worth more money, I would sue Dr. Van Patten's office for malpractice."
