"Ants living in the cereal dispenser. We told the staff and they were like "dang, again? Thought we fixed that" so that's common I guess. The rooms have zero sound isolation. You can hear so much from nearby rooms and outside. Every time someone flushed a toilet the pipes would bang loudly as well. Our room had broken carpet staples sticking up and I stepped on one and cut my foot on it."
"Worked out ok. The staff was very nice. Rooms very clean and was serviced well during our stay. The heater kept malfunctioning and shutting off in the middle of the night. The laundry machines are two dollars a load and two dollars to dry and the machines are very little. Other than that it was good. We didn't try the breakfast."
"I have been coming to Bishop for years but this was my first time staying at the Vagabond Inn. I am a Marriott Platinum member, so I usually always stay at Marriott hotels, but since Marriott has no hotels anywhere near Bishop, I usually stay at one of the local motels. I read some reviews before I made the reservation and most were pretty good, but I read some recent reviews that made me consider changing my plans. I arrived shortly after 3 pm, and the front desk clerk quickly checked me in. I got a bottom room floor so I was able to park my motorcycle right in front of my room. The room was a decent size and was clean, but you could tell the chair and the carpet had some wear and tear. The sink and bathroom/shower were separate and both were clean and presentable. There was a chip on the tub and they could have changed out the toilet seat because it was fairly worn, but otherwise, it was passable. I was a little concerned being so close the parking area regarding noise. With the air conditioning running all night, that wasn't a problem at all, and the air conditioner worked fine. In fact, I had to turn it down when I first got into the room because it got too cold. The room had plenty of hot water and a convenient refrigerator and microwave. I went to the free breakfast on the first morning of my stay and grabbed a couple of hard boiled eggs. Everything else was bread, cereal, waffles, etc. No protein at all. All the employees were extremely pleasant and helpful. The TV pretty much had Direct TV with local Los Angeles channels as well as several movie channels. The motel is within easy walking distance of quite a few restaurants, Smart & Final, and Vons. As someone stated in an earlier review, the towels are small...really small. My main concern with recent reviews was BUGS! I had no issue whatsoever in my room and the worst I saw were a couple of ants in the bathroom. No roaches, no bed bugs. Also, the majority of people I saw staying here were people on road trips and just staying for a night or two. Many families and many European tourists on their way to Yosemite. I didn't see any sketchy characters walking about and the parking lot was quiet at night. I would stay again. Why only three stars? Like I said before, I usually stay at Marriott hotels with closed, indoor hallways. It was a little strange having the door open to the parking lot, but maybe I am spoiled. You could do worse in Bishop. Trust me, I have!"
"Though we did not have hot water in the morning because the pipes froze, I would still highly recommend this hotel. The room was very, very clean, and the beds were comfortable. The staff is very helpful, accommodating, and nice. Area is safe, quiet, and close to everything."
"We always stop in bishop on our way to Mammoth, and have stayed at this spot a couple times now. Rooms are spacious and nicely heated! Just beware if you go during a busy season, you may encounter loud guests that you can hear thru the doors/walls."
