"I rented the picnic pavilion for our Jeep Chilifest event, the park ranger and his deputies keep this park looking top notch, they clearly take a lot of pride in their jobs (thank you!!). Everyone enjoyed the pavilion as well as the hiking trails and the changing leaves against the backdrop of the lake. Being early October the colors were stunning! Maplewood State Park is the gem of Ottertail county, we can’t wait to go back!!"
"Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting Maplewood State Park, and I was pleasantly surprised by the lingering beauty of the fall foliage. Although I worried the fall color might have diminished, the vibrant hues of golden and cherry red greeted me even before I reached the park entrance, setting the tone for an enchanting experience. Upon arrival, the parking area was not crowded, allowing for a peaceful start to my adventure. My first stop was the Hallway Hill overlook, and the trail leading up was adorned with the rich tapestry of autumn leaves. From this vantage point, Lake Lida and the surrounding colorful forest were a captivating sight, painting a vivid picture of nature’s seasonal transition. However, the true highlight of the trip was the trail leading from the parking lot to Hallway Hill and on to Beaver Lake. The fall colors were at their peak, creating a breathtaking spectacle that made the visit to Maplewood State Park a truly worthwhile experience. The blend of hues and the symphony of nature’s palette made for an unforgettable journey through the park. Overall, Maplewood State Park in the fall is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking to immerse themselves in the splendor of autumn’s beauty. The vibrant foliage and stunning vistas along the trails left an indelible mark, and I would highly recommend this park for anyone looking to observe nature’s incredible fall transformation."
"This is one of my favorite Minnesota State Parks. I come to the park for the hiking, beautiful lakes and wildlife. I always make sure to stay a couple of nights. This trip I was camping in my favorite site (8E) in the main loop. Here you are right on Grass Lake with a jetty. I would take my chair out and sit at the end of the jetty for breakfast or sunset. If you are a tent camper then the knoll loop is beautifully situated and quiet. There are also canoe campsites, backpacking campsites and a horse camp. The horse trails are extensive and the horse camp is beautifully set up (I hiked through there and got chatting with some of the campers)."
"Stayed in rustic campground and was pleased with the spacious campsite and privacy. Campers here did not stay long. Had place virtually to ourselves. The trek to the showers is about ten minutes and the showers are new and plenty with about 7 showers. Lakes in the park to fish. My favorite State Park to stay."
"Maplewood State Park is gorgeous! It is very clean with plenty of excellent hiking trails and views. The entrance fee is minimal and you can really spend hours just getting “lost” in the splendor and beauty of it all. I would especially recommend visiting during the fall."
