Reviews of Snelling Heating Cooling and Electrical
"Snelling Co. did a great job installing my new furnace today. Dave and Frank were prompt, courteous, and obviously highly skilled. They cleaned up afterwards also, which I appreciated. Alex helped guide the whole process, and answered all my questions. I would recommend Snelling Co. highly to anyone. Thanks!"
"I had the pleasure of working with Matthew on the issue I had. The radiators upstairs were not heating up, and although I had bled them and knew that the pressure in the boiler was low, I didn’t know if that was the issue alone or part of a bigger issue. It was thankfully just low pressure, which he fixed in all of a few minutes. However, since this is my first older home, he took the time to explain how to properly operate the system, what to look out for, and how to safely deal with problems. It’s been a long time since I have had service that was this quick, honest, and above and beyond helpful."
"Alex and Joe helped with the installation of 4 exterior outlets and various interior electrical projects. They finished everything in one day and communicated throughout the process. They even accommodated our sleeping toddler with quieter tasks for an hour and added extra work as we thought of it. We would recommend Snelling to anyone for electrical needs!"
"This review was updated to improve accuracy following Snelling's response. Thanks to Snelling HC&E for your follow-up. My main issue was that Snelling Heating refused to provide an option for addressing a CO leak besides replacing my entire system, when there were other possibilities that other consulted professionals were quick to suggest. There may not be documentation in Snelling's records of the diagnosis that a crack was causing my CO levels, but that's most definitely what they told me during their visit. It's an absolute fact that Snelling offered me only one option, which was to replace the entire boiler system. I can also say that after a cleaning and basic tune-up from another company, the CO levels are low and the furnace is working safely and very effectively. My full [edited] review: I had a mixed experience with Snelling Heating and Cooling. Let's start with the positives: They responded quickly when my boiler failed in the freezing cold of March '23. Within a day, they identified the issue, had the necessary part in stock, and replaced a failed thermocouple at reasonable cost. Additionally, they provided small space heaters for a few days. After the initial repair, the technician started the furnace and took a carbon monoxide reading. He told me that the CO level at the top of the furnace was extremely high and that there was a crack leaking dangerous gasses into the basement. He went so far as to disable the boiler and place a large warning sticker across the front. They told me the furnace could not be run again and had to be replaced. I reluctantly accepted Snelling's diagnosis. The quote included replacing all the piping, plumbing and water tank for $9,400 (standard efficiency system, including 5yrs financing). They did not suggest at any point that the possible causes of the high CO reading could be addressed with cleaning and a tune-up or any other repairs. Something didn't sit right with me. My carbon monoxide detector near the furnace had never registered a high CO level. Unconvinced by Snelling's diagnosis, I decided to seek a second opinion. In August, I had an experienced boiler technician from another company inspect the furnace. He explained that the boiler had significant buildup inside and needed a thorough cleaning, and he was confident that was the most likely cause of the high CO reading. So, I had the boiler professionally cleaned by the company the technician recommended. Following that, another technician later checked and tuned up the system, showed me how to best maintain it between servicing, and ensured me it’s now safe and functioning perfectly. The CO levels were then measured and registered only 2.0 PPM after running a good while. It's working great now and still getting the 2.0ppm reading consistently. This experience left me disappointed and inconvenienced. Snelling Heating & Cooling either overlooked or refused to acknowledge a fairly common problem that had an inexpensive solution. I respect and appreciate that many people, per reviews, have had positive experiences with Snelling. I also appreciate their professionalism with respect to emphasizing safety. I just wish they had considered how much better it would be for my family's financial well-being if they had put a little effort into the process of making an accurate diagnosis and offering options that were in my best interests. I wouldn’t say not to go to Snelling for your servicing, because they clearly have had a lot of happy customers. However, if you find yourself in a similar situation with them or any service provider, where the only solution offered to a somewhat ambiguous problem will cost thousands of dollars, then I’d definitely get a second expert opinion."
"I had water leaking from my central air unit on a Thursday night, called Friday and was able to get someone Monday morning. My repair person was very forward about not doing anything without me knowing the cost of the operation beforehand, which I appreciated and was able to do a cost effective repair on my unit that service call. Likely to use their services again."
