"I signed up with mediacom in January and was told it was unlimited no matter which plan I had. I came to find out that was not correct. I started receiving text messages saying I had used 85% of my alloted 350gb and if you go over you are charged $10/50gb. I was so confused so I called and was told that for unlimited service it would be at the $145 for the promotional amount for a year. That is just for internet nothing else. Talk about price gouging. This company charges like cellphone companies “used” to back in the day. UPDATE: I received this email from them. Thank you for reaching out, Karen. We sincerely apologize for any miscommunication or misrepresentation. As I'm sure you're now aware, all Mediacom nonsymmetrical internet plans do carry a data cap. Although I do show there was an overage fee, it appears it was credited back to you, and your plan was bumped to better fit for you. Although we are sorry to see you go, if you change your mind about your move to a different provider, we are more than happy to work with you. This is the worst apology. I called yesterday to get that $12.00 waived. The first time I had called they said they did that but obviously hadn’t. So there for my review still stands at a 1. I have been with mediacom for 2 months and I am going back to centurylink starting next month. What a messed up company. They need to get with the times. I should have done my due diligence and saw that this company does not have many positive reviews."
"Yet another 1 star review. After switching from CenturyLink to Mediacom I expected at least the same customer service. My bill wasn't delivered I I was charged with a late fee of $10. I called and explained that I wanted to talk to the manager to discuss the issue. The female operator told me I will be contacted within 48 hours and continued threatening me with the service cut off. What a service. Switching to nuvera as soon as it is in my area. Mediacom is not recommended to anyone."
"I tried explaining to customer service that there was an issue with their service. I gave them all the info I gathered from a tracert and explained that a server that their Minneapolis datacenter was routing to was having issues. All they could tell me was "Your connection looks fine on our end" and didn't do any debugging into why my connection had issues. Instead, they tried selling their advanced technician service to me. Most ISPs would provide services that actually look into why your connection is properly working for free. But Mediacom only provides telling you that you whether your connection is online/offline. My connection magically was fixed the next day without me doing anything. Mediacom, you need to trust your customers when they tell you that something is wrong especially if they're telling you specifically what is wrong."
"Been trying to get an internet line buried under the road since July. It is now December and they claim it is too late due to winter ground freeze. Ticket#6332969 Tech #3994. Repeated weekly calls get met with, 'yes, we see the work order and a team will be out there tomorrow'. Nothing ever happens. If it weren't a monopoly in our area this company would be out of business. Local tech boss is unresponsive. It shouldn't take a dozen phone calls to get something done. Meanwhile, my internet line hangs precariously low to the roadway endangering school busses and trucks. Little or no service accountability. Feel sorry for the phone service people that have to try and cover for the lack of tech responsiveness. Even our city engineer is frustrated with Mediacom."
"I never could have imagined how painful it could be to try and get cable TV service. Tonight, I have spent 2 hours and counting on the phone, transferred over and over again, for simply trying to get the expensive cable TV that I am paying for ($150) to a second TV. I never thought that something so simple could become a nightmare that requires an entire evening to attempt to figure out. This is probably the worst company that I've ever done business with. I think I'd rather live off the grid and become Amish, and stop watching television as an alternative to paying Mediacom."
