"Delayed completing and filing resulting in THOUSANDS in penalties. By far the worst interaction with anyone I have done business with in the accounting profession. He bought one of my old accountant's book of business and has run the practice into the ground. Stay away, go to H & R Block or really to anyone else. Don't let them cause you more tax headaches unnecessarily. One star just because I couldn't give Dotzenrod a zero."

"This accountant knowingly facilitates tax fraud and intentionally tried to prevent me from filing a corrected return because it will criminally implicate one of his other clients. Even worse, he did not inform me that he did not intend to complete my taxes. I had to call in to find out why I had not received any information about the status of my filing and only then did he inform me that he had no intention of completing my filing to protect his other client. Now I have less than a week to find and hire another accountant to meet the filing deadline. Unbelievably unprofessional. If you are looking for a shady accountant to help you break the law, Tom is your guy. Anyone else should steer clear. I'm just crossing my fingers in the hopes that he'll actually return my documentation rather than destroy it in an attempt to hide the evidence. (Sorry Tom and Rick, I have copies of EVERYTHING!)"

"I highly recommend Tom Dotzenrod CPA, Accountant, Tax Preparer. My company has used Tom Dotzenrod as our accountant since 2005. He is a true professional, runs a very good business, and is someone who I trust. His fees are extremely reasonable (about one third the cost of the previous accountants that I've used from bigger firms), and he has never charged me extra for the many times I've asked him for advice. He quotes his rates up front, and has never tried to up-sell me expensive services. I would describe him with the following words: honest, hard working, responsible, accountable, fair, knowledgeable, practical and humble. He is not a flashy person, is not a "big talker," and works out of a relatively nice but modest office space in Edina Minnesota. His accounting practice is conveniently located on the fourth floor a large office building just one block from France Avenue between 494 and Highway 62. The building is clean and there is no wait for the elevators. He is well versed in tax code, accounting, auditing, tax preparation, corporate structures, accounting software, Quickbooks, payroll, real estate, planning, and a wide range of business and financial issues for small and medium sized businesses. My company is an internet business that builds websites and provides online marketing services, but I know that he deals with a pretty wide range of more traditional businesses and individuals. He has given me great advice over the years that has truly helped my company grow and be more profitable. Your brand is not what you say about yourself, but what others say about you when you are not in the room. I was referred to him from a trusted friend, and gladly refer him to anyone who needs a great accountant. Dotzenrod probably does not do a ton of marketing or advertising, and I'd be surprised if he hasn't gotten nearly all of his business through positive word of mouth. I also suspect that most of his clients have continued to do business with him for a long time. I would highly recommend Tom Dotzenrod if you are looking for a very affordable, but top notch accountant in Minneapolis or the Twin Cities suburbs."
