"Highly unprofessional business. Tax preparation services are terrible. I do not recommend going with her unless you want to spend a lot of money. I am a family friend and know Laura personally. I had Laura filing my taxes for 2023 and she told me she would be able to get them done during the weekend of Feb. 10-11. I messaged her on Feb. 14th (wed) saying I’m not trying to rush you but was wondering if you had gotten them done being I haven’t heard anything. She messaged back on the 15th of February saying “working on it”. I then tried calling her on the 20th of February with no answer but got a text back later on stating she was starting on my QuickBooks balance sheet and reconciling my account and would get a lot of my taxes done that night after two weeks of stating she was doing them. I then texted back stating that I was upset she was not answering my phone calls, and I could not get a hold of her about my tax and personal information I also expressed concern that I did not want to end up paying a thousand dollar or more bill for something that was quoted around five hundred dollars max for taxes (joint married filing and business filing) along with reconciling my business account. Being a small start up business owner that is a lot of money. After that message she then sent me an email hours later stating she thinks it would be best to cancel my entire accounting service through her with no notice, leaving me with no idea how to do business taxes. I called around and other companies are not accepting any more business tax forms this late into tax season at all. This leaves me basically stranded. As a family friend I really don’t know how a “professional” accountant could do that to a client much less a personal friend. In the previous year with lodin advantage llc (2022) there have many instances of over charging me, charging me for services she had not done. For example paying early taxes once a month which took her less than an hour to do in previous months where I had income from the business. The months she was overcharging were months I had zero Income for therefore nothing to input or pay to the state but somehow it took her longer to do those months than the months I had income.. I told her I would start doing this myself instead and have now been doing it myself and it takes me about three minutes as a non licensed account yet Laura takes almost an hour?! Laura would organize my receipts in QuickBooks wrong and file them as all start up costs when they weren’t, leading to me and other clients of hers (she told me) being audited in 2022 by the IRS which in turn the IRS gave me more money than what Laura did. Unless you have money to spend, even for something as simple as wanting your taxes done I would not recommend this accounting business I feel her code of ethics as a tax preparer and accountant are twisted and my overall experience has been constant hills. The only time I felt at ease with my accounts was during my slow season when I didn’t have her hired services. MN statues 270C.445 Subd 3 states STANDARDS OF CONDUCT “No tax preparer shall: (1) without good cause fail to promptly, diligently, and without unreasonable delay complete a client's return;” I don’t think myself asking two weeks later if my taxes are supposedly done when they should have been warrants a “professional” tax preparer to not finish their job and immediately drop service. Once again highly un recommending this business and their practices."
