"I was quoted $350 for tax preparation and was billed over $750. This is for a married filing jointly, standard deduction, no itemization, two W2's, a few 1099s from large institutions, no individual stock transactions, no investment property. My initial visit was in the fall to get an estimate of taxes to be paid so that I could prepare to pay in. After meeting at the office I never got that estimate as promised. Bunch of excuses about being busy and needing to attend classes for upcoming tax year. Just a bad experience in many ways. 3/21/23 additional information added upon seeing Ms. Merrills reply: I am quite knowledgeable about my tax situation and preparation. Ms Merrill gave me a compliment for that while meeting. The forms she lists are very simple. For instance, Schedule B foreign tax paid. I had one entry on that schedule. It self populates using any tax software, TurboTax for example. She charged for a Additional Medicare tax form. Schedule 1, one entry for a small HSA amount. The list goes on. I was charged a base fee of $535 not $350 as stated in Ms Merrills reply. My tax situation is simple. Standard deduction, a few 1099's from large institutions, 2 W2's. No individual stock transaction, no investment properties. Ms Merrill's reply should tell you a lot about the service."

"Unprofessional, rude & very expensive for the lack of service she provided. Ask for pricing up front. I will not be going back. She implied she has more than enough money. So I know it's not a loss on her part. Wouldn't you want someone who cares about your finances & not just focusing on her pocket book? All I requested was an invoice of her services. She is by far the most expensive and rude tax person I've ever had in my 30+ years of filing taxes. If I have to post her rude email to prove myself I certainly will. People like her make life miserable. Go elsewhere for your taxes. For your pocket books sake!!!"
