Associated Bank

"This may be the worst bank I have ever worked with. When my mortgage was purchased by Associated Bank, I attempted to make a payment on their online portal. I was given an error message and told to try again later. I tried again after several minutes, then again after an hour, and was met with the same error message. Eventually I made a payment over the phone. It turns out, ALL OF THESE PAYMENTS HAD GONE THROUGH with no indication from their online portal. I had to scramble to contact my other bank, move funds around, try to stop transfers, and file disputes. Associated Bank's customer service department notified me that there was nothing that they could do until the funds reached my mortgage account, at which time they could SEND ME A CHECK in 7-10 business days. On top of it all, I was notified that THIS IS A KNOWN IT ISSUE and it is still not fixed as of today. TL;DR do not bank with Associated Bank, do not use their online portal, bank at your own risk."

"I just found out they are the official bank of the Packers. Immediate boycott."

"I had an account with this bank for over four years, and it was a lot of trouble. Every time I tried to do anything but direct deposit and use the credit card, I ran into unexpected hoops I had to jump through. And I was lucky if it only took an hour to resolve, but it usually involved a lot of running around to other offices even when I had all the paperwork on me."

"Used to be a good bank, in recent years they have gone the wells fargo path of adding hidden fees at random times. When I closed my account they couldn't even do that correctly. Saying transactions from two days before i closed the account hadn't posted yet, and i owed them money. When I went into the branch to pay them, I didn't have my id and they refused to take the balance. If possible go with a credit union, theses guys are crooks."
