"I was working through a complex family law matter and interviewed a number of the leading forensic accountants in the Twin Cities. What made Jennifer Loeffler stand out among the rest was her mental flexibility, and deep understanding of accounting and how it relates to family law. Many of the other forensic accountants that I met with had a very rote methodology and the very important subtleties of my case would be lost. Jennifer had the mental flexibility to work through my case while always making sure that it had a strong legal and accounting foundation. Jennifer was very easy to work with as she has a very low ego, pragmatic and committed working style. In addition, she is very efficient with her time and served as a great partner along with my attorney. I would recommend Jennifer with any hesitation."
"Jennifer of Value Consulting Group was recommended to me by a professional who indirectly worked with her in the past. I interviewed her over the phone and explained my situation. She seemed comfortable with my scenario. Her estimated services, depending on how much homework I did beforehand, would typically be in the $2,000 range. If there weren't any follow-ups, the cost would be low and be consistent with her quote. A $2,500 retainer would satisfy the initial work was to be agreed upon. So, to be clear, the retainer paid would also cover the initial $2,000 estimation. She also noted that this would take about a month (but no more than 60 days) to complete. After I submitted my paperwork and down-payment, I received a 'thank you for your payment' message. However, after that, I heard absolutely nothing for almost 7 weeks. Nothing. At this point I sent an email to her and her assistant and ask where things are at. A week went by without a response. I sent her a second email, specifically asking for the status. No response again. Three days later I sent an email to the professional who recommended Jennifer (she was cc'd, so the email wouldn't be a surprise to her). I asked if no response was common, and that I was disappointed with her firm's lack of communication. The person who recommended her immediately responded, apologized, and stated that this isn't typical. Oddly enough, that finally got her attention (three ADDITIONAL days later...) Almost 9 weeks total to get a first response. She responded giving an *excuse* (not a reason) as to why she couldn't take the time to write a 5-minute email to say her firm "was extremely busy with other cases". Please. If you can't take 5 minutes to respond to an email within at a day or two, then you are ignoring your paying client, period. After that, the only interaction I had with her firm was a simple one-sentence question to which I responded with a simple one-sentence answer. The homework I gave her was very complete and straightforward - nothing complicated at all. After yet *another* week, she sent a 5-page Excel spreadsheet that was difficult to understand without any over or explanation of the spreadsheet. It looked like one of those generic Excel templates with some numbers (that I provided) which were just copied and pasted. I also received an email for additional charges - close to $1,000(!?). No heads-up of these charges. An email was sent to her asking for an explanation for these additional charges, and I got a rubber-stamped "every case isn't the same" response. What I had was basic. Jennifer's initial quote compared to the final bill was almost doubled. Jennifer should have been a LOT more transparent about this. After this, I talked to two different law firms in the same field, and BOTH stated I was poorly represented by Jennifer. One firm commented that attorneys shouldn't behave this way and the other: "the billing doesn't seem all that consistent with the services you received". I eventually went with a different law firm (other than the other two above) to practically re-do Jennifer's work and got *much* better results at a *much* lower rate - less than a quarter (!) of what Jennifer charged. Jennifer's communication was flat-out abysmal and overcharged for an unreadable document. Even my new firm questioned some of the numbers... If she says her work is fair (which I don't agree with), then I'll respond by saying that others do a better job, offer far better communication, better advice, and are much more affordable - they aren't hard to find. Save your time, money, and frustrations and go somewhere else. You won't be represented in your best interest with the "Value" Consulting Group. BTW - I have the emails saved and can absolutely verify everything above."
