Olson Forum, located at 700 12th Avenue South in Moorhead, Minnesota, is a versatile stadium that serves as the home for varsity men's and women's basketball practice, volleyball practice, indoor track season, and various pre-season sport activities. This multifunction athletic complex opened in 1994 and is used by students, intramural teams, and varsity athletes.
Throughout the year, Olson Forum hosts a variety of summer camps and intramural sports, making it a hub of activity on campus. The facility is equipped with tracks and courts that are set 12 feet below ground level, offering a unique layout for fitness enthusiasts. Additionally, the surrounding upper balcony provides exercise equipment for students, staff, and faculty to utilize.
Named in honor of Earl and Dorothy Olson of Willmar, Minnesota, who generously donated $5 million towards its construction, Olson Forum is connected to Memorial Auditorium via the Offutt Concourse. This connecting space includes classrooms, the Cobber Athletic Hall of Fame gallery, a ticket booth, and the Birkeland Alumni Lounge, named after longtime regent Ronald Offutt of Moorhead.
For those looking to access the balcony after the Offutt Concourse doors are locked, entry can be gained through the southeast Olson Forum doors located by the corner of 8th Street and 12th Avenue. "Good amount of balcony seating for spectators which was very appreciated. Comfortable temperature. Adequate parking space. Throwing areas were not real safe for the throwers or other athletes. The long jump pit is also right along the track with sand from the pit literally hitting the track. Still lucky to have indoor facilities that can host meets during the winter."
