"I thought that based on his qualifications we would do more in-depth therapy, and that he had more techniques and interventions. I felt like he always just wanted to give me a worksheet or homework assignment which wasn’t beneficial because as a therapist I am very familiar with those assignments. I really needed to be able to talk and gain feedback and support. I wanted to uncover the root causes of my issues.He was trying to push for me to go back on medication; and, I was reluctant because I’ve already been on medications ; and, I feel that I mainly needed to talk and be listened to. He then said, I was dependent-avoidant because I didn’t want to jump to getting back on medications, which by the way never helped. I had a good therapist before I moved to Vegas that I made progress with; and, I wasn’t on meds; so, I was seeking another helpful therapist in Vegas. Anybody can just tell someone to go take some pills. However, it takes a skilled therapist to be able to really help someone. Maybe he’s a good fit for certain individuals; but, he was not for me. I did not sense any genuine empathy or desire to meet me where I was. I felt he just wanted to just speedily do what he felt would be best rather than really listen and offer feedback. I didn’t sense that he cared about if I would even benefit from what he wanted to do. He made me feel like talking about my feelings was a burden. I hope anyone else has a better experience than I did. I’ve had enough therapists throughout my life to know the difference between those who truly have empathy and care about people, and those who just view what they do as a job. He is definitely the latter. There was no connection with him. He comes across with a bit of an attitude, or condescension. His attempts to seem empathic were forced. When he would say, “Oh very good, Jessica” it was like he was talking to me like I was a little kid."

"Finding a good therapist isn’t easy to do. Sometimes it takes trial and error and I was quite fortunate to find Dr. Dwire. I came here for alcohol dependence in 2016-2017 and I haven’t been dependent since! I learned quite a bit about addiction and about myself in our sessions.
